The final week of quarter-final eliminations brought major twists and turns before heading into next week’s semi-finals. Did your favorites land a spot in the top 20?
America’s Got Talent has finally reached its final elimination before the semi-finals. The last round of cuts included some surprises — and some not-so surprises. Train also made a pit stop at Radio City Music Hall and performed their hit “Bruises” with Ashley Monroe and season-seven runner-up Tom Cotter returned to the America’s Got Talent stage.
‘America’s Got Talent’: Aug. 21 Results
The Virginia State University Gospel Chorale, musician Dave Fenley, singer Selena Mykenzie Gordon were the first group up on the chopping block. This elimination was really between Vsu and Dave after Selena’s rocky performance the night before. In a surprising twist, America went with Dave! Not that Dave isn’t fantastic, but Vsu’s performance was also great.

America's Got Talent winners Olate Dogs have celebrated their $$1 million win with a special performance on NBC's Today. Father and son Richard and Nicholas Olate and their talented dogs took the grand prize last night on America's Got Talent's season finale, beating out runner-up Tom Cotter. They have since shared with David Gregory on Today that they plan to use the money for a new house and a larger training area for their puppies. Nicholas also revealed that he and his father would love to star in their own television variety series. "We've always wanted our own show," he told Al Roker. Olate Dogs were (more)...

Never before had a comedian or an animal act made it into the finals of "America's Got Talent." So it was exciting that Tom Cotter and Olate Dogs rose to the top in the end. They outlasted The Untouchables, who broke Sharon Osbourne's heart when they started crying upon their elimination. She tried to console them by telling them it was her last show.
Also eliminated early were dance painters David Garibaldi and His Cmyk's, sand artist Joe Castillo and William Close, who wowed each week with his Earth harp and other homemade instruments.
The two-hour finale was padded with plenty of musical guests to drag out the big reveal of the act that would take home the $1 million prize and headline that Las Vegas show. And as a preview of what a Las Vegas act looks like, Blue Man Group also took to the stage.

"America's Got Talent" crowned a winner for Season 7 Thursday night (Sept. 13) and the final two choices came down to the Olate Dogs act and Tom Cotter the comedian. We were a little surprised William Close or David Garibaldi weren't amongst the final two -- did that surprise anyone else as well?
In the end, the Olate Dogs were chosen as the winners and good for them. They're a very talented act and we were worried the fact that their act couldn't grow as much week to week as other acts would hurt them -- you can teach dogs new tricks, but not in the time span between weekly episodes. Once they have their own act, it won't matter that every show is the same -- that's kind of the point -- and they can work on new tricks in the down time.
Do you think the right act won? According to the Zap2it poll,...

“Life is made up of meetings and partings,” Charles Dickens once wrote.
Okay, that may actually just be a line from Kermit the Frog in The Muppet Christmas Carol, but in the case of America’s Got Talent, NBC’s annual summer competition that manages to be the spiritual heir to The Gong Show, a poignant homage to vaudeville, and a grotesque Felliniesque carnival — sometimes all at the same time — it’s especially true. Season 7, which wrapped tonight, saw both the departure of longtime judge Sharon Osbourne and the crowning of a new talent shortly to be unleashed upon the unsuspecting tourists of Las Vegas.

The final six 'America's Got Talent' acts came together Sept. 13 for one final battle — but who was left standing? After what seemed like a never-ending season of blood, sweat and talent, a winner — or should I say winners — was crowned on America's Got Talent. So which act eventually won the $1 million prize and will be headlining a show in Las Vegas? Drumroll please... Olate Dogs! That's right — the mind-blowing, adorable, high-flying canine acrobats are going to Vegas! The rest of the contestants were eliminated one-by-one throughout the hour, in the following order: 6. The Untouchables 5. Joe Castillo 4. David Garibaldi & The CMYKs 3. William Close (I wasn't the only one bummed. Sharon Osbourne cried, then promised William that Simon Cowell would do "great things" for him. It was kind of weird, actually.) 2. Tom Cotter I should also note that the results were punctuated by performances from special guests, including an awkward song-and-dance-and-strip number by Justin Bieber.

I'm calling it now: Everyone's favorite earth harpist William Close will emerge victorious on the Sept. 13 season finale. You don't have to be a psychic, or Eric Dittelman, to know that tonight's season finale of America's Got Talent will end with William Close getting his own show in Las Vegas. Not only is he a favorite of the judges — Howard Stern, Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne — but last night, the panel practically begged viewers to cast their vote for the musical marvel. (I believe their exact words were "Vote! Vote! Vote!") Of course, there is one potential obstacle standing between William and certain victory. HollywoodLife.com polled our readers after last night's penultimate episode, and as of this post, William was tied with comedian Tom Cotter! Truth be told, I don't think any one act deserves to win tonight. My ideal Vegas show would combine Joe Castillo's sand artistry with William's music — and,...

This was it. The last chance for the six finalists to prove their mettle and impress the viewers on "America's Got Talent." But outgoing judge Sharon Osbourne made it very clear which act was her favorite, or at least the cutest.
The Olate Dogs were the final group to perform, and the had the in-house crowd cooing at how simply precious the animals were. But Osbourne was so enamored with them, she refused to let one of them go.
"That dog you're holding might be a millionaire," Howard Stern told her, reminding her that the dog was still competing.

Comedian Tom Cotter impressed the judges with his sharp sense of humor, while William Close and the Earth Harp Collective continue to prove that bigger can be better. It's the Top 6 finalists on "America's Got Talent." So who brought their A game and who flubbed it?
1. David Garibaldi and his CMYKs
This act is definitely one of the most Vegas-y acts left in the competition and for their final performance, the music and lights and lasers just add to that. Albert Einstein is their call for the final painting, along with their letters. It's cute, but we're a little surprised it wasn't something more vote-bait, like a patriotic image. It's interesting how David was able to paint it upside down and still have it be an uncanny likeness, but it felt a little easy for the finale -- the backup guys just painted their letters and you could tell what they were halfway through. Not the strongest effort by this act.
2. Tom Cotter
Once again, he has a schtick where someone chooses his topic, this time via a dice roll.

The contestants brought their A-game to the penultimate episode of 'Agt.' Read our recap and tell us which act you're voting for tonight! With less than 24 hours until the America's Got Talent season finale, the show's remaining six acts took to the stage Sept. 12 in a final attempt to sway viewers' votes. But who managed to wow the crowd — and who fell flat on their faces? As it turned out, everyone kicked serious ass tonight. I'll admit I had my doubts about a few of the final six acts before tonight's episode, but after seeing each one of them give it their all, I'm convinced every one of them deserves to be in tomorrow night's finale. David Garibaldi and his CMYKs: This group has always kept the audience guessing until the final moments of each performance, and they did it again this week, eventually revealing a really cool painting of Albert Einstein.

They laid it all on the line, but for two competing acts on this week's semi-finals results show, their fate would come down to the judges. "America's Got Talent" certainly put Sharon Osbourne in a position she didn't want to be in once those votes were revealed.
Two acts made it straight through based on America's votes. No one on the panel was arguing the advancement of Olate Dogs and dance troupe The Untouchables. That left the judges to choose between the two acts with the next-highest voting totals. This week it was David Garibaldi and His Cmyk's alongside Lightwire Theater.
CarterMatt worried that Lightwire wasn't bringing enough uniqueness to the table, after past contestants Team iLuminate and Defying Gravity. Osbourne must have loved it, though. She said it was a travesty that these two groups were in the bottom, and then chose Lightwire to advance.

We're almost there! As if splitting the semifinals into two different episodes wasn't bad enough, the regularly scheduled programming of America's Got Talent was switched up because of last night's NFL kickoff game. But tonight, we found out the fate of the last group of semifinalists. So who's going to join William Close, Tom Cotter and Joe Castillo in the finals? "America's Got Talent" got down to the business of picking its finalists from this first batch of semi-finalists. It was the end of the road for a lot of fan-favorites, including goth opera singer Andrew De Leon, mind reader Eric Dittelman and dancer Turf.
To make things more confusing, Nick Cannon first announced which four scored the highest number of votes. Later, though, it would be determined which three out of those four would make it through to the final round. Two based on America's vote would make it with the third coming from judges' choice.
The first through was musician William Close, who never ceases to amaze with his Earth harp. He was followed by stand-up comic Tom Cotter, leaving the judges to choose between dog ventriloquist Todd Oliver and sand artist Joe Castillo. Either way, based on online support, they were going to be making a pretty big fanbase pretty unhappy.

It's the first week of sending acts to the finals on "America's Got Talent." Who ya got to advance? If we have to pick before we know anything, we're going with William Close, the Scott Brothers and Dittleman.
The first group brought down is is Turf, the Scott Brothers and Joe Castillo. It should be Sb that advances, but it would not surprise us if the voting audience likes Castillo the best. And then that's what happens. Huh. He's great at what he does, but it's gotten a little worn. Oh well.

"America's Got Talent" is finally down to its Top 24. It seems like this show has been on for seven months, doesn't it? At this point, the contestants perform in two groups of 12 and only three acts advance to the finals. Not a lot of room for error.
Howard Stern's comments, by the way, were really spot-on tonight. It's a tough week, with only three getting to advance. And Stern was very honest with the acts, none of whom came out and blew it, which is nice to see.
The Stand-Outs
William Close -- His act keeps getting bigger and bigger, which is cool. This is very Vegas.
The Scott Brothers -- Not only is their dancing awesome, but the production value is spectacular. They are so polished and so professional. It looks like a real act in Vegas already.
Dittleman -- A good mentalist/mind reader act is very Vegas.

The final 12 acts faced off Aug. 28, but only three will make it through after tomorrow night's episode. Vote for your favorites! It was a night of magic, music and mayhem on the Aug. 28 episode of America's Got Talent, as Nick Cannon presented the final 12 acts for America — and the show's illustrious panel — to judge. And while everyone did a great job, it seems as though William Close has a leg up on the competition. Howie Mandel, speaking for his fellow judges, proclaimed that William is their absolute favorite. Sharon Osbourne also urged America to vote for William. And Howard Stern officially labeled William the competition's "frontrunner." Here's a quick rundown of the 12 remaining acts (if there's a *** next to an act, that means it's one of my personal choices): Andrew De Leon, opera singer Todd Oliver, dog ventriloquist Donovan & Rebecca, gymnasts Edon, singer The Scott Brothers, dancers Eric Dittelman,...

Time for the results for the third group of 12 from the Top 48 on "America's Got Talent." The acts through so far are the dancing Scott Brothers, father/daughter singing act Shanice/Maurice Hayes, performance artists David Garibaldi and His CMYKs, dancer Turf, comedian Tom Cotter and singer Tim Hockenberry.

So, was anyone else panicking a little bit when Tim Hockenberry and Turf were both called to the stage during Wednesday night's America's Got Talent results show? I mean, how can I pick just one? They were both awesome in their respective fields and they both feature the kinds of backstories that almost kinda sorta make you feel a little obligated to cheer for them on some level.
Basically, their showdown and the revelation that Both contestants made it to the semifinals, was a great fake out to start the results show off and keep me interested for the next hour, especially considering that left two spots to be fought for among ten remaining performers.
I tend to find the results episodes boring because there is so much filler required to make it fill an hour of television, but this one worked. I especially liked that featurette with Howie Mandel pranking the contestants,...

It was up to America again, as the judges waited anxiously to find out which four acts from this latest quarter-final round would move on to the semi-finals of "America's Got Talent" (Wed., 9 p.m. Et on NBC). Nick Cannon had a little bit of fun with them along the way, as well as the audience.
He brought out fan favorites Tim Hockenberry and Turf to stand side-by-side on the stage. The singer and dancer were also among the judges' favorites, so they were horrified at the prospect of one of them going home. After all, whenever two acts are brought out like this, one of them is getting cut. Right?
Not so fast.

Cannon pulled a fast one on everyone, shouting with glee that both acts had moved forward. Howie Mandel admitted he would have saved one of the acts if they hadn't gone through.

The next four acts to make the semi-finals of America's Got Talent have been named. Singer Tim Hockenberry, dancer Turf and comedian Tom Cotter were put through to the next round by public vote. Hockenberry joked that his self-belief "was rocked a little" when he was brought out on stage with Turf, saying: "I really thought it was over for me." Cotter said that he was "completely blown away" by the result, with a delighted Sharon Osbourne telling him that he deserved his place in the semi-final. "You know I've loved you from the start!" she exclaimed. The fourth act - as chosen by judges Howard Stern, Osbourne and Howie Mandel - was dance duo Donovan & Rebecca. Mandel, who was given the casting vote, hailed Donovan & Rebecca's "unique" (more)...

Boot camp continued in Las Vegas for a second night of auditions from the Judges' Favorites -- a whirlwind spectacle of magicians, comedians, child prodigies, and various musical acts. Whirlwind is an accurate description. I'm definitely disoriented in the aftermath of our first honest-to-goodness eliminations maybe, just maybe, I'm longing for the cut and dry decision making of The Voice, the former holder of America's Got Talent's time slot.
Is it too much to ask for a little bit of explanation? Perhaps a peek into the decision making process that is a little more insightful than a bunch of sound bites taken out of context and mashed up with a token Montage of Tears? How many spots were filled tonight? How many are left? Who actually made the cut? Did anyone actually approach singer Shanice Hayes about ditching her dad, the other half of her duet act? We spent...

So after weeks of auditions, the judges have narrowed down the America's Got Talent contestants! Unfortunately, there are still over 100 of them... and that's a few too many for the live shows. By the time Las Vegas week is over, though, we'll have just 48 acts standing. In case this wasn't dramatic enough, Nick Cannon introduces the show by standing on top of the Grand Canyon, waving his arms in the air and looking perilously close to the edge. The acts are about to face the "toughest challenge of their lives", apparently: "Go big or go home!" Let's get started We see all the acts getting up at ridiculously early hours and heading to Las Vegas (of course, there are comments from people who've never flown before, and from others saying how amazing Las Vegas is). But Tom Cotter points out that while they might all be getting (more)...

Was it just me or did the Montage of Horrors last longer than usual this time around? Let's see, we had the rejected roller-dancers and the creepy mimes. There was the French horn group that earned my love as a former horn player, though even I knew back in high school that it was not a sexy instrument. Nobody wept during the second round of New York City auditions, but Howard Stern's parents made an appearance. When Howard referred to one resoundingly rejected contestant a "nudnik," Papa Stern was invited up to the stage to give the "confused young man" some advice, "Don't be stupid, you moron."
I couldn't have said it better myself, really.
So who did make the cut last night?
John Pizzi, a ventriloquist from Brooklyn projected images of our three judges and answered the burning question: what would a lovechild between Howie Mandel and Howard Stern look like?...
