- Wide receiver for Philadelphia Eagles, 1976-1978, mainly used on special teams.
- Papale attended St. Joseph's University, where he was a track star. St. Joseph's does not have a football team.
- Played for the Philadelphia Bell of the World Football League in 1974 and 1975.
- Despite not having played college ball, Papale (who was 30 at the time) won a spot on the Philadelphia Eagles under then-rookie head coach Dick Vermeil.
- His wife, the former Janet Cantwell, is a former member of the USA World Gymnastics team and has coached and taught gymnastics all over the world. They are the only married couple to have been inducted individually into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.
- He and his wife have two children, Gabriella and Vincent Jr.
