42 years of age. Screenwriter, Theatre Director and Television
Director. Born in Kerala, India, did his schooling in Jamshedpur, then
a part of Bihar. These formative years spent in feudal, caste plagued
Bihar defined his artistic outlook and politics which are an integral
part of his writing. While attending college at the Delhi University,
he started working with theatre groups like Act One and Jan Natya
Manch, and for more than 9 years contributed to the cause of socially
relevant theatre. Moved to Mumbai in 1998, and has since then been
creating a niche for himself, by writing research based, socially
relevant films and alternative television shows.
Wrote dialogue for 'Gafla' which, featured in the Guardian's top 10
films of the Times BFI London Film Festival, 2006. 'Summer 2007' is his
first original screenplay, where he uses a popular narrative style to
highlight the agrarian crisis driving farmers to suicide as a result of
Urban myopia and Rural Neglect. "Yudh' was a first of its kind Original
Mini Series made on Indian Television, which starred Amitabh Bachchan
and was creatively produced by Anurag Kashyap.
