French-Canadian filmmaker based in Montreal, where he co-founded the production company Extérieur Jour, Jérémie Battaglia describes himself as an admirer of ordinary heroes. In his films, he delves into themes of adversity, the body and its limits, and the weight of performance, as seen in "Perfect" and "Le Frère" (Best French Canadian Documentary Short Film in 2021), all driven by uniquely courageous protagonists. His first feature-length documentary, "Perfect," gathered over 20,000 viewers in French theaters in 2017, and his films have been broadcasted on Radio Canada, CBC, Al Jazeera, PBS, and France Télévisions, in addition to traveling to numerous festivals worldwide (Hot Docs, Regard, Palm Springs, AFI Docs...). He also engages in collaborations with artists from other disciplines, such as animated films, theater, dance, and music, through various projects involving art, dance and circus films or theater productions. He developed his first animated documentary short film as well as a new documentary for Télé Québec focusing on the male beauty standards as seen by young men.
