In 2004, Carney inked a record deal with Out of Line Records (EU) and Sector 9 Studios (Us) to release the debut System Syn album, Premeditated. The following year, System Syn signed […] More...

I have, unfortunately, not seen as many as the ‘Dread Central Presents’ titles as I would have liked but it’s great to see the site and, in the UK, ‘Frightfest Presents’, releasing movies that might not even get a release otherwise… So on to Dry Blood.
Reminiscent (in story and a couple of other little things) to the 2013 Evil Dead, Dry Blood sees lead character Brian decide to head to a kind of cabin in the woods he owns in a small rural mountain town, so he can get himself clean from drugs. He rings his on/off girlfriend to join and help him get through the next week or so. As this is a horror movie, things obviously don’t go smoothly for Brian and Anna.

Clint Carney is a musician, writer and actor who began working in film as a visual artist. “Cocaine is a hell of a drug,” said the late Rick James, and he’s not wrong; humorous as his remark may be in the context of a TV sketch show, horror has always viewed drug addiction as a potent portal to the madness of the mind, and the consequences thereof. Dry Blood (released By Epic Pictures through Dread Central Presents on VOD and Blu-ray January 15th) jumps headfirst into the psychotropic plasma of addiction and ends up as discombobulated as when it starts. It’s what the kids would call a “mindf--k”, and a fascinating one at that.
Brian (screenwriter Clint Carney) starts his day like every other: violently ill from the effects of hard drugs and alcohol. This morning is different, however; he reaches out to his longtime lifeline and ex-paramour Anna (Jaymie Valentine), tells her he’s heading up to his cabin to detox once and for all,...

If you're a resident of the Los Angeles area and a horror fan, then no doubt you're familiar with the Hyaena Gallery located at 1928 Olive Avenue over in beautiful Burbank, California. In the last several years, the gallery along with it's stable of artists have made a name for themselves not only for their unique dark art, but for paying tribute to all the things we love about the horror genre. When they're not showcasing original pieces from their roster of artists, they sometimes focus on theme specific shows such as the 'Scream' exhibit and the 'Psycho' legacy shows they've hosted in prior years back. But right now, for the entire month of March, they're paying tribute to one of the horror director greats. Wes Craven.
"The Wes Craven tribute exhibit was actually something I've been wanting to do at the gallery for quite some time," explains Hyaena Gallery owner and curator Bill Shafer.

Today’s feature includes details on a Wes Craven art exhibition, the first sighting of Megafoot, a 100 zombie films graphical print, first photos from Australian Horror film, Barrow, an interview with actor, writer, and filmmaker Sean Stone, and much more:
The Horror Legacy of Wes Craven Exhibit Details: “Wes Craven has been feeding our collective horror consciousness since 1972, when his first feature, “The Last House on the Left,” debuted. That film was gritty, raw and terrifying, it still causes a guttural reaction some 40 years later. In his career, Wes has created some of the most memorable moments in horror cinema, from the torture scene in “The Serpent and the Rainbow,” to the Johnny Depp’s explosive scene in “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” to the first glimpse of Michael Berryman’s savagery in “The Hills Have Eyes.

The diabolical creation of dark electronic artist Jasyn Bangert, God Module often sits apart from the conventions of horror-themed gothic/industrial music thanks to Bangert's personal approach to songwriting – which taps into the artist's childhood nightmares – coupled with a looser, more freestyle genre blend. With the debut of the band's sixth full-length album False Face, Bangert makes a relatively bold move by incorporating more pop elements and melodic hooks than all of his previous releases combined. As counter-intuitive as that approach may seem for a band known for its grim, macabre sensibilities, it turns out to be just the shot in the arm needed to take the music to a compelling new level. That's not to say that False Face isn't every bit as dark and ominous in tone as the band's excellent 2011 release Séance; this is seriously spooky and intense stuff, tapping once again into Jasyn's childhood experiences... or in one specific case,...

Christmas is a time for feel-good movies. It’s a Wonderful Life, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and the usual Hallmark Hall of Fame drivel that hits the airwaves every December. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the mainstream Christmas classics as much as the next guy. But at night, when my family is all snug in their beds, that’s when I drag out my sick and twisted Christmas collection…
Black Christmas, Christmas Evil, Silent Night Deadly Night, Don’t Open Till Christmas, those are the films I like to cuddle up to with a spiked eggnog. What is my favorite? That’s a difficult question. I love them all for different reasons, but if I had to pick one, I would have to pick a recent import from Finland called Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale. A modern mashup of The Thing and the Krampus mythology, it is...

When you talk about horror legends, one name that has to be included is Tom Holland. From Fright Night to Child's Play, Tom has had a hand in some of the most memorable horror films of all time. He recently sat down with Dread Central to talk about his projects past, present and future.
Holland will spend the next year helping to organize and host Ship of Fear, a horror convention cruise sponsored by Chiller that will set sail on October 28, 2013. Between now and then Holland and his team will create the most intense festival they can imagine... and then ship it out to sea. "The idea came about because I've been watching the horror convention circuit grow more professional," Holland said. "I've only done two in my entire life where I had to leave La, and one was in Franklin, Indiana, which is about half an hour from where my father was born,...

He lent his considerable talents to charity earlier this year for The Horror Starlets, and now artist Clint Carney’s latest artwork is set to bow at Hyaena Gallery in Burbank, California.
"The Final Fire is about the slow deaths we endure over the course of our lives,” Carney, whose work can be seen in such films as Scream 4 and Savages, told us of his latest creations, “and about the death of morality, innocence, love, ego, belief, materialism, compassion and imagination. Some of these things we may naturally grow out of, some of these things we may destroy in ourselves, and some are robbed from us by others. Though, there is also some hope to be found within the artwork as well, if you look hard enough.”
