I love it when a director you clocked onto a little while back as someone with potential, someone that you should be keeping an eye on, not only drops his latest film but has taken a complete left turn genre-wise, turning his hand to romantic comedy, and smashed it out the park. The director in question is Fredi ‘Kruga’ Nwaka and last time out he brought us The Living Dead which did pretty well on the festival circuit and I personally sung its praises as a low-budget Brit horror comedy that was daring to dream.
When I saw Nwaka was moving down a more romantic road I wasn’t sure what to expect from him, or the finished film, if I’m honest. All too often...

It hasn’t taken long for writer/director Ross Boyask to follow up 2018’s Vengeance (aka I Am Vengeance) with a sequel, probably because that film struck a massive chord with genre fans across the globe – respecting the action genre’s vast, and may I say beloved, past, whilst delivering a modern take on the traditional Dtv action film; and, of course, featuring Stu Bennett in a compelling lead role. I’m guessing that the fact Bennett was on UK screens as part of World of Sport wrestling And had a huge name presence thanks to his former WWE career didn’t hurt either.
However Vengeance proved that Bennett was so...

"I knew him... All that most people saw was a homeless kid wandering the streets." A trailer has launched for an indie drama titled Homeless Ashes, the feature directorial debut of English actor Marc Zammit. The film gives a voice to the homeless, shedding a light on domestic violence and how many of these people on the street are forgotten or ignored. Maybe they're good people just struggling to survive. Zammit stars as Frankie, a boy who runs away from a violent home and ends up on the street. Hector Bateman-Harden plays the younger Frankie, and the cast includes Jason Flemyng, Andrew Lee Potts, Kirsty J. Curtis, Lew Temple, Jessica-Jane Stafford, Madalina Bellariu Ion, and Angela Dixon. Take a look below. Horror comedy is very difficult to get right. Managing to cause laughs and scares is always a tricky balance, especially over the length of a feature film. The Evil Dead 2 is often held up as the best example of the genre, but I would probably update this to Tucker and Dale vs. Evil which managed to be sweet, funny and feature some very memorable and violent scenes. Cannibals and Carpet Fitters is, much like Snakes on a Plane, a title that makes me smile. It earns an awful lot of good will through title alone. But beyond the amusing Cockney vs. Zombies-style title there must...

Not one but Three kick-ass powerful leading ladies. Break-neck fight choreography straight out of The Raid. A spellbinding and ear tickling 80s retro synth score. One of this year’s Frightfest World Premieres, Black Site had people excited with only its description promising John Carpenter-esque action… Which is all I needed to hear to give it a watch. In truth, despite despite this playing at Frighfest, it’s not really a horror movie. The sci-fi elements more than make it worthy of being shown at one of the World’s leading genre festivals though.
The sci-fi here feels very Lovecraftian, involving elder gods that are living on Earth being captured and held at the Artemis Black Site until they are not needed any more and are sent back from where they originally came. It all feels very much...

Here’s a rather nice exclusive to start the week as we can announce that Jason Mewes and Roxanne Pallett are to co-lead the forthcoming horror film, Devil’s Tower, currently shooting in Derbyshire.
You’ll know Mewes from his brilliant work in Kevin Smith’s films from the View Askewniverse and Zack and Miri Make a Porno, and seeing him take a leading role in a British movie is a very interesting move.
Pallett has been a long-standing star of Emmerdale, and most recently appeared in the BBC’s Waterloo Road, and this should be a great role for her to break through on the big screen.
Starring alongside them will be the Tony Award-winning Frances Ruffelle (Les Misérables), Jessica Jane Clement (The Real Hustle), Peter Barrett (UFO, Jack Falls), Jazz Lintott (UFO, Airborne), and Emma Buckley (How to Stop Being a Loser), in her first principal role.

Security rushed into the 'I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!' jungle last night (21.11.11) after a snake crept into blue camp. Crissy Rock, Mark Wright, Dougie Poynter, Jessica-Jane Clement, Pat Sharp and Emily Scott were left terrified when they discovered the huge 1.5-metre slimy creature under Mark's bed. While the 'Only Way Is Essex' hunk originally thought he had found a rat creeping about under his sleeping space, on closer inspection he realised it was actually a bandicoot being suffocated by a carpet python. Mark shrieked: "Oh my God, Dougie. There's a snake eating a rat!" Dougie shouted back: "I'm...

I'm a Celebrity's Pat Sharp has told jungle campmates of his reservations about Sinitta and Lorraine Chase. The Fun House star held court with a silent Mark Wright, Crissy Rock, Dougie Poynter and Jessica-Jane Clement over the pair. The 50-year-old first accused 'So Macho' singer Sinitta of seeking tabloid attention by exaggerating her fears in her bushtucker trials. Sharp declared: "It p*sses me off and I don't give a flying f**k anymore. Whatever phobia you have we know that these [creatures] will not hurt you so... just get in there and do what they want you to do. If you come out being all scary just to get in the papers or whatever, then that is pathetic. "I think there's a bit of, 'Oh, look at me'. She's not stupid, and she knows how the world works.
