Hazel started her training in Fine Art with the emphasis on painting
and sculpting. In the autumn of 2000, the study of Photography became
her passion, which ultimately lead to a career in moving images. She
attended The Salisbury College Film School in 2002/04 and gained a
Higher National Diploma in Film and Television Production, and
graduated with a First Class Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Creative
Writing and Video Production from Buckinghamshire Chilterns University
College in 2005.
The 2005 short film 'SOMETIMES, SERIOUSLY, NEVER' was Hazel's directorial debut. Sometimes, Seriously, Never, gained the honor of Official Selection for three international Festivals and won 2 awards at The New York International Independent Film & Video Festival in 2005. Winning the award for BEST SHORT COMEDY in Los Angeles and an award for BEST DIRECTORIAL DEBUT in New York City.
Hazels follow up short film 'CUT' in 2006 a forward thinking short about the dangers of reality television. Had equal success with its world premiere screening at the Festival du Cannes in 2006 and participated in the Short Film Corner Market. Also gaining international recognition in four worldwide festivals including The Illinois International Film Festival in 2007.
Since the age of 16, Hazel has worked within the Film and Television Industry in the UK, for independent production companies and television stations such as ITV and BSKYB, gaining production credits as varied as Art Director and Assistant Floor Manager. She has also worked as a publicist for Icon Film Distribution.
At present Hazel is studying for an MFA in directing at the prestigious UCLA film school in California. She has been awarded honors from the Motion Picture Association of America and was the 2007 recipient of the BAFTA LA fellowship.
