"You city boys - unbelievable." Would you like some wine with your short film? Check out this Edgar Allen Poe-inspired, "Gothic suspense thriller" short titled Bricks, about a wealthy stockbroker who hires a rough builder to renovate the wine cellar underneath his country house. In the shadowy cellar they find common ground at first, but then they'll have a falling out with chilling consequences. Not to be confused with Rian Johnson's directorial debut Brick, this film is a tense thriller about wealth, wine and the art of bricklaying. Bricks stars Jason Flemyng and Blake Ritson, directed by Neville Pierce. I dig all the uneasy tension in these two performances, this is such a nice thriller that allows the actors to play with the audience. Enjoy. Short synopsis from Vimeo: "When a wealthy stockbroker hires a rough builder to renovate the wine cellar underneath his country house, the two...

Over nearly 20 years, film journalist Neville Pierce has collected bylines at most of the U.K.’s top film publications, including Empire (where he’s a contributing editor), Total Film (where he was the editor) and The Guardian. And while he worked as a reviewer early in his career, he’s best known for his long-form profiles of actors and directors, pieces that are deep dives into the art and craft of subjects like Michael Fassbender, Mark Romanek and, most consistently, David Fincher, whose sets he has visited and written about no less than seven times. But since 2011 Pierce has been building […]...

However, making a movie that can stand out from the pack still requires talent and skill that you can’t buy off a shelf. It’s not every day that a filmmaker like David Fincher shouts out a short film, but the again, it’s not every day that a director like Neville Pierce comes along.

Film journalist turned filmmaker Neville Pierce is gearing up for his feature directorial debut, but before making that jump, he’s prepped a trio of brand-new short films that show off his unique style and various genre obsessions. This first batch from Pierce includes “Ghosted,” a Valentine’s Day-appropriate (well, kind of) offering starring “Prevenge” filmmaker and star Alice Lowe.
“After 15 years or so of reviewing films and interviewing filmmakers and actors, the shorts were my attempt to put what I’d learned into action,” said Pierce in an official statement. “With ‘Ghosted,’ we wanted to make a romantic comedy with a little bit of a riptide. It’s about trying to get over any kind of loss…Hopefully the shorts show a bit of range – we had great crews and it was a thrill to work with such a talented group of actors.”

Here's the sci-fi short film David Oyelowo stars in, that we first told you about in July 2011, called Rahab, based on an idea that won the 2011 Enter The Pitch contest. The film, directed by Rob McLellan, from a script penned by Nev Pierce, made its world premiere at the Sci-fi-london Film Festival in May, earlier this year, and, a few month later, is now online, in full, for everyone else to watch. A recap... In short, the project won the 2011 Enter The Pitch contest, which requests that you create a 2 minute pitch for your short film idea, based on a story in the bible, whether directly or loosely, and the winner...
