- As a child, Jason had a cat named Amanda Jones, named after the Amanda Jones who was crowned Miss USA the day they adopted her.
- He was suspended from school for a week after he sat in gum; drove home to change his pants, accidentally locked his keys in the car, had to walk back to school, and missed two class periods.

- He had many odd jobs growing up including working as a paperboy, at McDonalds, at a car wash, and as a bus boy at a country club.
- When Jason first arrived in LA, he knew he needed to learn computers in order to make a living while he pursued acting, but he could not afford one. He priced all of them so he knew how much they would cost. Then, he went on The Price Is Right game show and was the first person called. The first item up for bids was a computer. He knew the exact price. He won it, and was able to make a good living with it.
- Jason credits his Uncle Jim as his role model for perseverance. Jim was born paralyzed from the waist down due to Spina Bifida. Always in a wheelchair, he never complained. He did wheelchair marathons and played in a wheelchair basketball league. Eventually he died due to complications from his birth defect at 28 years old.
- Jason's first acting job was a commercial campaign for Mervyn's Department Store.
