‘Doctor Who’ celebrated its 50th anniversary of being on the air (yep, you read that right) on Nov. 23 with a huge special episode, ‘Day of the Doctor.’ And as time lords from the past and present made surprise appearances for the momentous event, stars and fans alike freaked out on Twitter.
The BBC television show Doctor Who has lasted 50 years — a seemingly impossible feat — solely because of its obsessive and endlessly hungry fan base. And there was no better display of that wild fanaticism than on Nov. 23, when the show celebrated its big anniversary with a special episode called “Day of the Doctor.”
