Molly Shannon has revealed that she loved appearing on Glee. The actress starred as Brenda Castle in two episodes of the show and has now explained that she was impressed by the cast and crew. "It's been fantastic, they're amazing," she told Entertainment Weekly. "It's just an amazing cast and it's just so fun to do a show that's so well done, where you just have to show up and do your acting and you're not worried about how it's going to be edited. It's such a well-oiled machine. It's just a pleasure." Shannon added that she would happily return to the series, saying: "I would love to do more if they (more)...

TBS is hoping to heat things up this summer with its new animated series Neighbors From Hell (premiering tonight, 10 p.m. Et). The series follows a family of demons attempting to fit in amongst the “normal” residents of Texas suburbia, and features the voices of Molly Shannon, Patton Oswalt, and Will Sasso. Funnylady Shannon recently spoke to EW about the evilness of her character Tina Hellman, her Saturday Night Live homecoming, and her guest spot on Glee. (Glee writers take note: We want Brenda Castle back for season two!).

We had one major beef with this week's Glee episode:
It was titled "Bad Reputation" and focused on songs that New Directions' members were tasked with rehabilitating - but the singles chosen needed no such rehabilitation! Ice, Ice Baby; U Can't Touch This; Total Eclipse of the Heart?
These are classic guilty pleasures! How dare Glee besmirch their name by implying they weren't perfect just the way they are?!?
We can look past this snafu, however, and discuss the character-based elements of the episode. Viewers saw a darker Sue, a harder Emma and a promiscuous Rachel. Just musically, of course.
Sue hit on all cylinders throughout the hour. As someone who just loved "revisiting the impeccable form of my jazzercise routines," she tossed out her usual one-liners, performed in an incredible music video with guest star Olivia Newton-John and bonded with her sister.
I complained, when this character was first introduced,...

I'm gonna say it upfront: I didn't like this week's episode. After the heights of the Madonna episode and last week's heart-string-tugging tearjerker, this week was a real let down. I wasn't crazy about the music selections and the story was weak. But hey, at least that means plenty of shots!
Hope you've got your drinking pants on. You're gonna need 'em.
We start off with the Glee kids cracking up while watching a video on Kurt's laptop. It's a video of Sue dancing to "Physical" by Olivia Newton-John. Kurt apparently stole it from Sue's locked filing cabinet when she sent him to get her hormone replacement injections during Cheerios practice. Ladies and gentlemen, we have our first shot in the very first scene of the episode. Sue Sylvester would never leave something so incriminating where it could be found so easily.
Finn wants to post the video on YouTube,...

That may be what Will Schuester said, but that's exactly what happened in this episode of 'Glee.' Up was down, down was up, black was white, and everyone was different than their usual selves. All that, and Sue Sylvester and Olivia Newton-John doing a music video together. Apparently, every singer on the planet wants to be in 'Glee.'
But first we had that awful home video of Sue vamping to 'Physical.' I actually loved that certain members of the Glee Club were involved in the swiping of it from her office. You know, go a little crazy, get into some trouble, don't be such a goody two-shoes all the time.
Quinn's construction of the Glist had a little darker motive behind it. As Mr. Shu said, she had lost so much,...

We're mere hours away from the return of Glee, which of course means Gleeks everywhere are tingling with anticipation (Check out my Glee primer gallery to get ready for the premiere.) Full confession: I've seen the first three episodes of Glee's next nine episodes and they are some of the best we've seen so far from the Fox series. (Next week's Madonna episode, in particular, is a showstopper.) Tonight also marks the first appearance of guest stars Idina Menzel (Wicked) and Jonathan Groff (Spring Awakening) as Vocal Adrenaline's coach and star singer, respectively. 4. “Proud Mary”

While the kids in New Directions are stars in their own minds (well, at least Rachel is), thanks to a new astronomy teacher, they will be seeing real stars in school soon. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Molly Shannon (Saturday Night Live, unfortunately Kath & Kim) is joining the cast of Glee in May as McKinley High's new astronomy teacher and badminton coach. Besides putting our favorite TV high school students through their constellation paces, Shannon's pill-popping booze-hound, Brenda Castle, will become a chief rival to Jane Lynch's Sue Sylvester.
Why do I foresee a chorus of Brenda-inspired Glee kids facing off against Sue's Cheerios in a gym-class badminton war to the strains of "Hit Me With Your Best Shot"? Shuttlecock choreography!!
Of course, for Brenda to be a rival for Sue, Sue has to actually work at the school. When we last left McKinley High, Sue had been fired for her shenanigans at Sectionals.

Welcome to your Thursday morning television briefing. It's official: former Moonlight star Alex O'Loughlin, last seen in CBS' short-lived medical drama Three Rivers, has signed on to play Detective Steve McGarrett in CBS' remake of cop drama Hawaii Five-o, ending weeks of speculation. This is the third go-around for CBS and O'Loughlin, who will star opposite Lost's Daniel Dae Kim in the project, overseen by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Peter Lenkov. (The Wrap) It might be a case of third time's the charm for ABC as well. The network announced a new set of showrunners for struggling freshman drama FlashForward, which had its episodic order cut down to 22 episodes. (At one time, the series was meant to air 25 episodes this season.) Co-creator Jessika Borsiczky, Lisa Zwerling (ER), and Tim Lea (Past Life) have replaced David S. Goyer as showrunners on the ABC Studios-produced series. (Goyer himself replaced...

Look, I'm not saying that 'Glee' can do no wrong (the fake pregnancy storyline obviously refutes that), but they sure do a lot of things right. Not only do they have Kristin Chenoweth returning, Idina Menzel joining the cast, but now Molly Shannon is coming to wreak havoc at McKinley High.
According to Michael Ausiello, Shannon is playing Brenda Castle, McKinley's newest astronomy teacher/ badminton coach (did your high school have either of these things? Mine sure didn't). Not only that, but she's set to become Sue Sylvester's arch-nemesis, which is brilliant for several reasons.
One, because if Sue Sylvester has another arch nemesis besides Will, then that means more screen time for Jane Lynch, which improves any show by at least 65% (Fact).

Jane Lynch's Sue Sylvester will get someone new to butt head with when "Glee" returns to small screen. Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly has brought up confirmation that former "Saturday Night Live" star Molly Shannon has been set to join the cast ensemble of the acclaimed musical comedy series.
According to Ausiello, the actress who plays Kath in "Kath & Kim" will take on a recurring character named Brenda Castle. Her character is described as a "busty 45-year-old new astronomy teacher and badminton coach at McKinley High School who is both an alcoholic and a pill-popper". As for her affiliation with Sue, an insider simply said, "She becomes Sue's enemy."
Should the story is true, Molly Shannon has come on board as the latest guest star tapped to make merry the series. She will be joining the growing list that has already included the likes of Olivia Newton-John, Jennifer Lopez and Neil Patrick Harris.

Saturday Night Live vet Molly Shannon will join the cast of Glee as a "busty 45-year-old new astronomy teacher and badminton coach"/"Sue Sylvester rival" Brenda Castle. I'm bracing myself for trenchant barbs about where Brenda can shove a shuttlecock already. Now, what about the remaining two members of SNL's late '90s lady troika? Sue Sylvester could easily seek the advice of a life coach played by Cheri Oteri, of course, but inserting herself within the drama of Ana Gasteyer's last film, Dare, is tricky. [EW]...

A touch of Saturday Night Live is coming to Glee.
Molly Shannon will guest star this May on the musical comedy, playing a role that sounds almost too delicious to be true.
Originally reported by EW.com and then backed up by E! News, Shannon will portray Brenda Castle. She'll be a nemesis for Sue and:
"[A] busty 45-year old new astronomy teacher and badminton coach at McKinley high-school who is both an alcoholic and a pill-popper," said an insider.
Ignoring the atrocity that was Kath & Kim, Shannon has appeared on episodes of Pushing Daisies and 30 Rock.
Glee (fianlly!) returns to Fox on April 13.
