Jack Haddad(I)
- Additional Crew
Mr. Jack Haddad was born in Cairo, Egypt to Selim Haddad a pharmacist. He was one of seven children (2 boys and 5 girls).
He was raised in Cairo, and at the age of 30 years old he moved to Paris and then to the United States of America.
Mr. Jack Haddad worked in the movie industry for Paramount Pictures, MGM, and 20th Fox. His most notable work was with Paramount Pictures on the set of the Ten Commandments, staring Charlton Heston and Yul Brynner. Mr. Haddad initially worked as a location scout, translator, and then moved on to be an assistant in the prop/special effects department.
Mr. Haddad had the honor of working under the direction of Cecil B. DeMille and thought Mr. DeMille was a fantastic director. On the set while filming the Ten Commandments Cecil B. DeMille noticed in the very large crowd of actors that one of the actors had a white stomach with no makeup on it, when he lifted his arms. So he stopped the production and instructed the assistants to find him and put the makeup on his stomach. However, all the assistants could not find the guy with the white stomach. Therefore, Mr. DeMille came down from his elevated pedestal and went through the large crowd to find the man. Once he found him he asked him to raise his shirt up to show his stomach which was white when it was supposed to be dark because they were portraying Egyptians. Therefore, Mr. DeMille ordered the makeup department to put makeup on his stomach. This memorialized how brilliant of a director Mr. Cecil B. DeMille was for his keen eye and sense of details.
