TetroVideo is at it again, giving all you extreme horror freaks what you want. They've just announced three limited editions of Marian Dora's Cannibal. Their previous edition sold out so there is a market for this out there. Don't tell me who you are. Cannibal is based on the true story of Armin Meiwes, known as "the Rotenburg Cannibal", who killed and ate a voluntary victim (Bernd Jürgen Armando Brande) whom he met on the Internet in 2001. While something like this is certainly not up my ally I do appreciate TetroVideo's efforts here to put out extremely limited editions. The Golden Edition is limited to just ten copies, each individually hand numbered and each disc has it's own design too....

Seven years ago German director Marian Dora changed extreme cinema with the notorious Melancholie der Engel. In the documentary Revisiting Melancholie der Engel Swedish director Magnus Blomdahl follows in the tracks of this film together with Marian Dora himself. Locations, stories and, of course, Marian himself. The man with eight different pseudonyms. Melancholie der Engel is loved for it's brutal honesty and hated for it's haunting acts of nihilism and true terror. Melancholie der Engel is more than just a movie. Revisiting Melancholie der Engel is about that film, the borders between fiction and reality and the person behind this artistic madness. Revisiting Melancholie der Engel is being released 31 of mars by Black Lava Entertainment and can be prebooked at www.blacklava.at ...

The Profane Exhibit is an anthology of 13 horror films from different countries. My favorite German director, Uwe Boll, made his about that really sick story about an Austrian father who locked his daughter in the basement and raped her.
You Know Boll has been dying to make a film about this since he first heard the story in 2008. Apparently, an Austrian man decided to rape his daughter, repeatedly, and locked her in a basement for 24 years. 24 Years. She had kids down there, and everything. Neighbors didn't know, no one knew. Even his wife, the girl's mother, claimed not to know exactly what happened. How fucked is that?
So fucked that Boll knew he needed to film it.
I'm not sure excatly what The Profane Exhibit is, except that is seems to be some kind of anthology of short horror frolm 13 different directors. Interesting to note, one of the directors is a woman,...

McHugh's article noted that out of 34 horror industry professionals interviewed for an important article in the U.K. SFX Magazine Issue # 192 about their favorite horror movies and books, not one was a woman. Of all their answers, she further points out, only one recommended the work of a woman...
SFX Magazine may not have immediately heeded one woman's intelligent argument that they either deliberately, or negligently, underrepresented women in the magazine, but the UK Guardian and feminist blog The F Word both picked up on it and made the discrepency a news topic that SFX editor Ian Berriman couldn't possibly ignore.
In addition to her blog post, McHugh wrote a direct letter to the editor expressing her disappointment at not seeing more women's...

QuietEarth brings us the news that The Angels' Melancholy (Melancholie der Engel) is director Marian Dora's latest (she previously directed the straight-to-dvd horror Cannibal in 2005) horror film. Dora is one of those crazy Germans, and she's worked with Uli Lommel on a few of his tragic independent horror disasterpieces like Zombie Nation as executive producer. Her second film as director is an arty-expressionist flick involving good and evil, Satan, angels, nuns, blood, gore, nude horseback riding, rape, animal corpses, pain, torture, (did I already say nude horseback riding?) and so much more. Check out the new subtitled trailer and synopsis below to get an idea of what I'm talking about...

The Angels' Melancholy comes from director Marian Dora (who's had extensive experience working on horror and gore films like Btk Killer, Green River Killer, and Zombie Nation) and will be his second feature length film. The first, Cannibal, went straight to DVD. What ostensibly looks like an erotic thriller has the visual style of Jörg Buttgereit's Nekromantik and is more hard horror, similar to Last House on the Left. The trailer doesn't showcase much of this, but we've been told we might be able to get a red band trailer in a month.
