Academy Award nominee Patricia Clarkson and Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley star in this feel-good, coming of (middle) age comedy about a mismatched pair who help each other overcome life’s road blocks—festival circuit favorite Learning To Drive, which was chosen the Audience Award runner-up at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival.
Wendy (Clarkson) is a fiery Manhattan book critic whose husband has just left her for another woman; Darwan (Kingsley) is a soft-spoken taxi driver from India on the verge of an arranged marriage. As Wendy sets out to reclaim her independence, she runs into a barrier common to many lifelong New Yorkers: she’s never learned to drive. When Wendy hires Darwan to teach her, her unraveling life and his calm restraint seem like an awkward fit. But as he shows her how to take control of the wheel, and she coaches him on how to impress a woman,...

Clint Eastwood revisited Harry Callahan three more times, usually whenever his career was in the dumps. If Dirty Harry was a cultural phenomenon and Magnum Force a respectable follow-up, the rest are uninspired cash-ins. The main law Harry enforces in these sequels is the Law of Diminishing Returns.
Given Dirty Harry‘s San Francisco setting, something like The Enforcer (1976) was inevitable. After all, San Fran hosted Haight-Ashbury, hippie capital of the world; was a favored site for Black Panther and Sds protests; headquarters of the nascent gay rights movement; victim of Weathermen bombings and the racially-charged Zebra murders. Writers Gail Morgan Hickman and S.W. Schurr based their script, originally titled “Moving Target,” on the Symbionese Liberation Army which kidnapped Patty Hearst. Dean Riesner (who cowrote the original Harry) and Stirling Silliphant (In the Heat of the Night) polished the film.

"I’m a huge Carl Sagan fan. I’ve read all of his books, and have so much respect and admiration for him that I guess it's no surprise "Contact" is my favorite movie of all time.
"It was able to balance delving deep into philosophy and science, still maintaining wonderful heart and soul. It's the story of Dr. Ellie Arroway [Jodie Foster] who, since she was just a girl, was always interested in contacting faraway lands.
"[Director] Robert Zemekis did such a wonderful job in bringing this story to life. His shots took my breath away. My favorite scene was when Ellie is in the [court] hearing after her journey and is being questioned about her experience. Jodie Foster's acting is so superb; it's just a wonderful scene, in a wonderful movie."
Ashley Rickards stars in the upcoming MTV series "This is Awkward" and spent a season as Samantha Walker in "One Tree Hill.
