As this years ABCs of Death 2 Filmmaker Frenzy contest for the letter "M" draws to a close, we figured it would be fun to review some additional short films that caught our attention. (We've recently reviewed Todd Freeman's M is for Marriage, Corey Nikolas' M is for Monkey and the Kondelik Brothers M is for Masochist.)
Below you will find some entries that we took a look at. Be sure to check out the links under the reviews and watch the short films yourselves.
If you like any or all of them, give the film a "like" on that page. Enjoy!
M Is For Mushrooms (USA)
Directed by Bryan Wolford
Runtime 2 minutes 40 seconds
Starring Melissa Watson as Kendra and Jonny Rey as Alan, M Is For Mushrooms is a short film about a couple who get some “potent” mushrooms that they proceed to ingest.

With the holidays upon us, one may get the urge to read a few stories around the old Yule log. If you’re like me, the urge may be to read something a tad bit sinister. And if you’re like me, you’re going to enjoy Slay Bells Ringing, a new anthology of holiday horror edited by Jeff Chitty (pictured).

Producer/director Jeff Chitty's The Taking of Savannah is now in post-production, which means it's time for some early artwork for the film, and we've got your first look at two different versions of the debut poster -- one "safe" and one that you may not want your co-workers or kids to see.
Principal photography for The Taking of Savannah has wrapped with only two scenes left to shoot. Its cast list is as follows: Savannah - Krystal Heib (Fetch), Ashley - Denise Carroll (Fetch), Scott - Antoinne Williams, Spencer - Mike Ducey, Finn - Jeremy Everts, Riff - Cameron Haines, and Torg - John D. Barnes. Dustin Adair penned the script from which Chitty is directing, the Dp is Robert P. Campbell, and the film's makeup and FX are being handled by Colleen May (Fetch, Nailbiter).

Abolition Poster by JSnSKG Films is a production company based in Ontario, Canada. Skg is relatively new to the biz', but already they are participating in three films: 48 Hours in Purgatory, Bitter, and now Abolition. Abolition will also be shot in Ontario and the film is directed by the also relatively new Canadian director Mike Klassen. Klassen takes some time out from producing and writing to talk about his horror and thriller influenced film, Abolition. Have a listen to this tit-for-tat interview, as Klassen describes his film as "if Taxi Driver and The Exorcist had a baby." These are two parents you want to have.
(Michael Ross Allen) Hello Michael, nice name and thanks for talking about your film. Now, can you intro' readers in to your film? What is Abolition about?

Filmmaker Jeff Chitty dropped us a line today with the trailer for his latest movie, Survive!, which proves that more horror can come while visiting an auto repair shop than from just viewing the bill!
The flick follows newlyweds Bill (Bill Headburg) and Jennifer (Amanda Dawn Harrison) on the way home from their honeymoon, the horror and tragedy that befall them when they stop at a seedy repair shop, and the violent aftermath thereof.
Check out the trailer below, and look for the film to be playing during the Fright Night Film Festival (running August 14-16 in Louisville, Ky). Hit up that link for additional info.

Indie filmmaker Jeff Chitty of Guerilla Entertainment sent along the first word, along with an exclusive, not especially work-safe trailer, behind-the-scenes pics and frame grabs (with “grindhouse-style” visual degradation), from Survive!, his new flick that, he tells us, “is clearly inspired by ’70s exploitation flicks such as Last House On The Left, I Spit On Your Grave and They Call Her One Eye.” You can take in all the visual roughness below.
Chitty, whose previous credits include Roadkill and is who also working on a chiller called Devil’S Fork (see item here), reveals that Survive! (no relation to the Rene Cardona true-life 1976 shocker) rose from the ashes of a different, defunct project. “It was put together to take advantage of time everyone had taken off work to shoot another film called Hellclown, for which the financing never materialized,” he says. “I wrote the script over two days, and completed...

Friend of the site and indie producer Jeff Chitty (Bonnie and Clyde Vs. Dracula) dropped us a line yesterday with a heads up about his latest film, The Devil’s Fork, complete with a trailer you can check out below.
The Devil’s Fork follows a couple (Debbie Rochon, pictured, and Allen Lowman) who encounter a strange hitchhiker (Tina Krause) and her even stranger and more dangerous accomplice, Preacher (Jared Cyr) on their way home from a wedding. The drifters put the couple through a series of hellish tests to find out if they are truly survivors.
For now all that’s been shot is the trailer you can see below, but the hope is the trailer will be enough to drum up funds to get a budget in place to shoot the whole film. Keep it here for updates as The Devil's Fork comes to life!

Kansas City-based filmmaker Jeff Chitty gave Fango an exclusive look at a promotional trailer he recently shot for his road movie/horror film Devil’S Fork. You can see it below the cut.
The trailer is part of Chitty’s plan to raise financing for the movie, and showcases the cast who have already committed to star in the feature: Allen Lowman from Bonnie And Clyde Vs. Dracula, Fango Radio’s own Debbie Rochon, Bad Biology’s Tina Krause and newcomer Jared Cyr. Lowman and Rochon play a couple driving home from a wedding reception who encounter a strange hitchhiker named Autumn (Krause) and her companion, Preacher (Cyr), resulting in what Chitty calls “a true road trip from hell!”
Originally intended as a short to be included in an on-line series called Heartland Horrors, Devil’S Fork proved to be too graphic for the backers, and Chitty and his co-scripters...
