It’s something of an understatement to say that the work of poet and short story writer Edgar Allan Poe has had a lasting effect on the horror genre. Especially when it comes to horror cinema in particular. It’s not so long ago that we had the likes of P.O.E.: Poetry of Eerie and it’s sequel Project of Evil, David DeCoteaus’s The Pit and the Pendulum, and the animated anthology Extraordinary Tales; and now comes Tales of Poe – which adapts Poe’s short stories The Tell Tale Heart, Cask of Amontillado and Dreams.

Creator Scott W. Perry tells Fango, “After the success of the first season, we’re moving forward with a bigger slate of movies with more talented filmmakers to come. Ten episodes are confirmed, and we hope to fill the season with 12 in total.”
The first batch of In Fear Of entries, currently visible on YouTube, range from “Monophobia: Fear of Being Alone” to “Achluophobia: Fear of the Dark.” Pictured here are Jeremiah Kipp’s “Scotomaphobia: Fear of Blindness” (pictured right and in two photos below) and Perry’s own “Gerontophobia: Fear of Aging.” “Scotomaphobia,” Perry tells us, “stars Susan Adriensen as Emily, a woman whose downward spiral of addiction in her life coincides with her increasing loss of vision.”
Kipp elaborates: “Our main character is going blind, so imagine an episode of Mr. Magoo where our blurry-eyed protagonist is bumping lines of coke, having shrieking booze-fueled confrontations, putting herself in...

Some trailers focus on grossing you out. The bloody mouths, the stumped limbs, the overall yuck factor of it all. Some trailers focus on sexual deviancy, up-skirt shots, copulating with members of the clergy or fornicating behind a butcher's counter. The ambitious filmmakers behind Psycho Street decided to just go on ahead and throw it all into one pretty extreme trailer. Wow.
Psycho Street is a three-part anthology film starring Tiffany Shepis as the best looking version of the Crypt Keeper we've ever seen, welcoming you to the twisted town of Kronanburg where things ... well, things tend to get fucked up. And even though the film has already been picked up by R-Squared for a 2012 release, we thought you'd like to be the first on your block to take an early look at this intriguing Nsfw (that's Not Safe For Work for you cubicle jockeys prowling the internet on company time) trailer.

Dig on these Exclusive Nsfw Stills that director Anthony G. Sumner, don't show your kids or memaw this shit! Psycho Street is another cool film I'm close to and been following for a long time. The horror anthology has a really cool and insane segment called "Lewis", sounds pretty tame and simple but it'll shock, floor and possibly offend you, it pushed the envelope as far or futher than anything I've seen in a long time and will probably make you go pray after witnessing the bloody carnage that is "Lewis".
If you've been missing that 70's horror feel then this is what you've been looking for, devil worship, sacrifice, blood, gore and nudity all in one segment! I have a lot of friends invloved with "Lewis" and the entire anthology and I'm happy to see all of this come together!

One woman's cautionary tale of a film distribution deal gone wrong with a convicted embezzler.
So, there I was, an independent filmmaker with an ultra-low budget movie “in the can.” I was ready for the world to see my work. The next step was to seek distribution. Oh, how I dreaded that daunting task of searching for the right fit for my movie, and mailing DVD’s out, … and waiting, … and hoping, … and fearing rejection….
But I really didn’t do much of that … regretfully….
You see, someone I knew had just started his own distribution company. I had already worked for him as an actress in one of his films.
But acting in someone’s film doesn’t mean you know the person. But who do we really know? Do we know the distributors we send our films to? More than likely, no. So, we need to do our homework.

Women in Horror Month creator Hannah Nuerotica and Fgt editor Heidi get down and dirty about the new GoreZone Women in Horror Month Tribute Video in a no-holds-barred bikini-wrestling match of emotions.
Hannah: On January 8, 2011 Uk MagazineGoreZonelaunched a video called “Women in Horror” (in honor of February being Women in Horror Month). Despite my legitimate skepticism regarding how a magazine indistinguishable from Maxim on the rack would portray a movement rooted in the feminist ideal of equality, yet I remained open-minded. Maybe we would all be surprised and elated to see some true progress taking place.
Heidi: If you’re an artist, a filmmaker, a director, an editor, an actress who doesn’t happen to look like a model, or basically any woman who doesn’t cater to the sexuality of male horror fans, you may find yourself having a harder time getting your projects seen and heard, or getting jobs doing what you love.

The first thing people will notice about horror director Alan Rowe Kelly (Don't Look In The Basement, I'll Bury You Tomorrow) is that he is a gender bender, but Kelly has been bending more then genders his entire career as he has broken out the idea of conventionality. At the age of 39, with 40 just right around the corner, he had an epiphany. Bored with a career as a stylist, he made the sudden and dramatic move to horror. First testing the waters as an author, he switched over to the world of indie horror film directing where he won great acclaim for "I"ll Bury You Tomorrow". As he continued to direct films, he also started making a name for himself in the indie horror world as an actor playing power players, agents, something that rhymes with witch, etc. These were powerful, empowered characters that personally reflected upon Alan Rowe Kelly himself.

I met Arthur Cullipher in Louisville, Kentucky at the Fright Night Film Fest this summer and have made a friend for life. One of the funniest and nicest guys you'd ever want to meet and he is talented too! He and his Clockwerk Pictures team have created one of the darkest and disturbing short films I've ever witnessed with 'Come', think Lovecraft and R-rated Twilight Zone episode mixed with a little Outer Limits, all on acid and then stuck in a blender, I haven't been lucky enough to witness more from him but I'm sure that day is coming. Arthur is a part of Clockwerk Pictures and even the Dark Carnival Film Fest. He's an FX artist, he writes, directs, produces, even makes action figures and can make you laugh in a second! Check out my latest "Versus" with Arthur Cullipher as he's invited all of us for...

If you haven't heard the latest scandal to rock the low budget horror film world (like anyone would have?) you can rest assured the people at Fraudtalk haven't been slacking. They recently reported that David Williams of New York, USA has been arrested and senteced to six months in prison for embezzling over $250 thousand dollars from his employer, Wvr International, to fund his terrible low budget horror movies and a never-realized magazine called Red Scream.
David Williams also owned something called Medicine Show Cinema which distributed other people's indie horror films, like Susan Adriensen's Under The Raven's Wing. His own films were also on this label and named things like Red Scream Nosferatu, Prison of the Psychotic Damned, FrightWorld, The Eldritch: A Tale of Erotic Violence, and Red Scream Vampyres...
If these films sound like they would be terrible, it is because they are.

Actor/producer Marv Blauvelt sent over some on-set photos (see ’em below) from “Come on Down,” the wraparound story for the currently lensing independent horror anthology Psycho Street. He also gave us the first look at a trailer for the movie’s over-the-top comedic segment “Hypochondriac,” which you can see at the bottom of the page.
Busy scream starlets Tiffany Shepis and Raine Brown star in “Come on Down” alongside Austin Dossey, Kirk Chastain and Jason Hignite for director Arthur Cullipher. The setting is the town of Kronanburg, and Blauvelt provides a synopsis: “When newcomer to town Aubrie Harris [Brown] sends her husband Casey [Dossey] next door to borrow tools and he doesn’t return, she becomes concerned and decides to visit her new neighbor in hopes of finding Casey’s whereabouts. Making a visit to her neighbor Leya Barker [Shepis], she discovers through her ‘friendly’ visit that Kronanburg may not be the...

Medicine Show Cinema has just released Under The Raven's Wing on DVD! Written and Directed by Susan Adriensen (Prison of the Psychotic Damned, The Blood Shed), Under The Raven's Wing is a psychological study in female friendship when it is warped and twisted by tragedy, control, and violence. Reminiscent of Margaret Atwood's Cat's Eye, it's not to be missed for the avid collector of offbeat and indie horror cinema.

Indie horrormeister David R. Williams of Red Scream Films gave Fango the word that he’s releasing five fright features on DVD this spring under the Medicine Show Cinema banner. This newly formed distribution outfit is a collaboration between First Dark, Iron Halo Productions and Calabi-Yau Films.
“We specialize in neo-grindhouse, post-Splatterpunk, B-movie art-house and erotic-grotesque feature films,” Williams tells Fango, “distributing to the domestic and international home entertainment markets. We’re independent filmmakers with strong backgrounds in movie marketing and acquisition, and we’re actively seeking titles to add to our library. We’re not interested in the type of cookie-cutter, paint-by-numbers horror films currently cluttering theater screens and DVD shelves; we want films that push the boundaries, that take viewers to the edge and beyond, that reject feel-good endings and that don’t conform to any mold.”
Williams and co. are aiming to issue five-10 films this year,...

“The Green Monster is my first solo screenwriting feature, following my co-writing work on Pete Jacelone’s Sculpture,” Wright tells us. “It originally began as a short film. I wanted to explore the problem of young women who give birth and then throw their babies away. Bryan and Nolan over at Untold Horror got their hands on the script and wanted to expand it into a feature, but that was something I really had no interest in doing. I felt that it functioned well as a short piece, and didn’t want to make an hour and a half of depressing social commentary.”
