Perhaps no actor received a greater injection of exposure and career boost during the awards season just past than did Lily Gladstone, the Indigenous performer who won SAG Award and Golden Globe trophies along with an Oscar nomination for her standout performance in Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon.” While she lost the Academy Award for Best Actress to Emma Stone for “Poor Things,” Gladstone benefited tremendously, significantly elevating her stature after entering the campaign as a relative unknown. “I think I’m probably not going to fully metabolize it for years,” she says. “What’s cool is that you develop this camaraderie with people who are going through it with you, and there’s this collective relief when you get to see each other on the other side of it all. November 1997. Saanich, British Columbia, Canada. 14-year-old Reena Virk went to a party with her peers. But sadly, the girl never came home, and her breathless body was found with signs of a brutal beating. The case was so gruesome and scandalous that it became a major media story in Canada in the late 90s. The perpetrators were a group of teenagers who had regularly bullied and abused Reena prior to the fateful day.

Aamir Khan Gets Emotional While Dancing With Ex-Wife Reena Dutta At Daughter Ira Khan’s Wedding. (Photo Credit – Instagram)
The perfectionist Khan is a softy at heart. Months after the wedding of his daughter Ira Khan, a video of Aamir Khan is going viral. No, it’s not the video of him crying while walking Ira down the aisle, which did happen. But in a new video, Khan reunited with Ex-wife Reena Dutta on the dance floor at their daughter’s wedding and the video is too sweet. Dutta and Khan share two children, Ira and Son, Junaid. In the video that Ira Khan shared from her wedding, we see a small glimpse of Aamir and Reena sharing a dance.
Ira posted the video to her Instagram, starting with some amusing clips from their engagement celebrations. Ira and Nupur had many friends who enjoyed physical activities, including a football game.

Hulu’s “Under the Bridge,” which premiered on the streamer last month, could be another drop in the true-crime dead-girl television canon of which there are many varying outings, until it swerves into another direction when telling the horrific true story of Reena Virk. Based on Rebecca Godfrey’s book of the same name, in 1997 the 14-year-old Virk was murdered by a group of teenagers in British Columbia, Canada, after previously being bullied at school.
The television show, helmed by Quinn Shephard and Samir Mehta, delves into Godfrey’s book about Virk’s murder with Riley Keough playing Godfrey and Lily Gladstone as Cam, a fictional character who is a police officer and Godfrey’s estranged friend from high school, who both investigate the Virk case.
In wanting to create a fleshed out show, and to pay respects to Virk, Shephard and Mehta used Godfrey’s book as a jumping off point.

Lily Gladstone still gets nervous!
The Killers of the Flower Moon actress revealed that she was “terrified” of working with a few surprising actors while on the set of her Hulu limited series Under the Bridge.
The show is based on the true story of the 1997 murder of teen Reena Virk by her classmates, and Lily plays cop Cam Bentland, a composite character representing the local police working on the case.

It’s a Hollywood cliche you have to hire the nicest actors to play the meanest people, and on “Under the Bridge” a group of struggling, lonely teens committing violent crimes certainly qualifies.
Unlike other shows about teens, where the cast is pushing 30, the kids on Hulu’s miniseries all are played by actors aged 12 to 16. This created a few challenges during production, due to the dark true-life plot, which centers on small-town British Columbia and the kids who assault and kill their classmate Reena Virk one night, and then basically all cover for each other while the case unfolds.
We wanted to “[give] them permission to explore the cruelty of their characters,” creator Quinn Shephard said to IndieWire. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Under the Bridge Season 1, Episodes 1 & 2.] Hulu’s true-crime drama Under the Bridge brings to life the real-life story of Reena Virk (Vritika Gupta), a teen girl who was murdered in the ’90s and almost every one of her peers is currently a suspect as the limited drama series unfolds. But some are more suspicious than others as tough-girl Josephine “Jo” Bell (Chloe Guidry) projects as mob boss-aura proclaiming herself the “John Gotti of Seven Oaks,” the boarding house for wayward teen girls. Meanwhile, is there more to Warren Glowatski (Javon “Wanna” Walton)? It’s quite clear that Reena’s pal Dusty (Aiyana Goodfellow) is cracking under pressure as investigator Cam Bentland (Lily Gladstone) seeks answers surrounding the crime. Bettina Strauss/Hulu And yet, not everything is as it appears, allowing for the mystery to unfold little by little. When it came time to take on these roles, the teens at...

Will “Under the Bridge” go over big with voters? Did Anna Sawai just lock up the Emmy? Gold Derby editors and Experts Christopher Rosen and Joyce Eng are here to discuss Hulu’s new limited series, the penultimate episode of “Shōgun” and more.
Based on Rebecca Godfrey‘s book of the same name, “Under the Bridge,” which premiered with two episodes on Wednesday, tells the true story of Reena Virk (Vritika Gupta), a 14-year-old who was assaulted by a group of teens, mostly girls, and then murdered in a small town in British Columbia, Canada, in 1997. Riley Keough plays Godfrey, who died of lung cancer in 2022, a week after the show was announced, and Lily Gladstone plays a detective. Both are campaigning in supporting, which on the surface seems like category fraud, but we explain why this is the correct placement for both and how the teen cast members — which includes Chloe Guidry,...

When Quinn Shephard (indie hit “Blame” and internet satire “Not Okay”) set out to adapt Rebecca Godfrey’s bestselling narrative non-fiction book “Under the Bridge,” about the 1997 murder of teenager Reena Virk, one key aspect of the book stood out to her beyond the crime.
“I was so struck by how gentle [the book] was,” Shephard told IndieWire during a recent interview. “And there was a real sensitivity to the way that it approached the holistic story, as well as all of the characters. It was a very beautiful book; it was very poetic. I was really shocked that a story that was so dark and so brutal could have so much tenderness. [It’s] really a story of childhood and coming of age.”

Mumbai, April 18 (Ians) Oscar-nominated actress Lily Gladstone’s performance in the streaming series ‘Under the Bridge’ has been receiving great response.
The actress portrays a cop in the miniseries, which is based on the brutal murder of Indian-origin girl Reena Virk.
Indian-origin actress Vritika Gupta essays the role of Reena in the series. Virk, who was murdered by her own friends and strangers, was born in Saanich, British Columbia, Canada, and died at the age of 14.
As a teenager, she struggled to fit in and was bullied from elementary school all the way to high school. She was self-conscious about her looks, and her strict religious parents, who converted from Hinduism to the Jehovah’s Witness religion, made things even more difficult for her.
On November 14, 1997, Reena, who struggled with Fomo almost three decades ago after it became a popular slang, was lured in by the promise of friendship for a gathering.

A year and a half ago, Lily Gladstone and Riley Keough were still relative unknowns about to hit the big time when they were cast together in the eight-episode Hulu true-crime thriller “Under the Bridge.” Gladstone would steal the show in the Martin Scorsese epic “Killers of the Flower Moon,” earning an Oscar nomination and a SAG Award win. Keough, famously the eldest grandchild of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley, landed Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her starring role in the Prime Video limited series “Daisy Jones and the Six.” In a Zoom interview this week for the “Under the Bridge” premiere on Hulu with its writer-creator Quinn Shephard and showrunner Samir Mehta, Mehta described landing Gladstone and Keough in the follow-up project to their big breakthrough as “literally kismet.”

Officer Cam Bentland, played by Lily Gladstone in Hulu’s eight-part crime drama “Under the Bridge,” is tired. Not tired in the way that a good nap can fix, nor is she merely bored of her job with the Saanich police. “Weary” would be a better word for the drained disposition with which she carries herself, whether she’s helping her father (and captain) hit the punching bag or listening to yet another complaint about wayward teens. It’s during the latter that something clicks. A girl is missing, and even though runaway high schoolers are a routine occurrence around the greater Victoria area, hearing her brother (also a cop) refer to the young woman as a “bic girl” sparks Cam to action. “Bic,” referencing the cheap lighters found on gas station counters, is local slang for recalcitrant teens who have no one looking out for them.

There is something inherently captivating about crime shows. The American public is obsessed with them. It doesn't matter if the crime shows are fictional, like Law and Order, or accurate crime retellings of actual cases.
The New Hulu miniseries Under the Bridge is a true crime drama based on a novel by Rebecca Godfrey (1967-2022). It highlights the Canadian novelist's investigation into the gruesome murder of Reena Virk in Saanich, British Columbia, in 1997.
The crime rocked the Saanich area and much of Canada primarily because the Reena Virk killers consisted mainly of a group of teenage girls.
The Under the Bridge miniseries dramatizes the events somewhat as it looks at what happened when Godfrey went to Sannich to investigate the details of the crime and write her novel.
Here's what we know about the miniseries, which focuses primarily on how Godfrey (Riley Keough) and Officer Cam Bentland (Lily Gladstone) investigated the case.

Plot: based on acclaimed author Rebecca Godfrey’s book about the 1997 true story of fourteen-year-old Reena Virk who went to join friends at a party and never returned home. Review: While crime exists worldwide, North America’s glut of true crime stories is centered on the United States. We often take for granted that our neighbors in the Great White North are more than America’s nice neighbors or denizens of the Fifty-First State. Canada is a massive country with its own good and bad, with crimes just as heinous as anything we see in America. While the events depicted in Under The Bridge are not as scary as serial killer tales, the story it retells is every bit as disturbing.

The star-studded casting of Lily Gladstone and Riley Keough in Hulu’s Under the Bridge, as it turns out, all started in the DMs.
The series, which counts Keough as an executive producer, is based on the true story of Reena Virk, a 14-year-old girl who was beaten and murdered by a group of teenagers in Canada in 1997. Keough stars as Rebecca Godfrey, who investigated and wrote a book on the tragedy, with Gladstone as a local police officer trying to solve the case.
At the show’s Los Angeles premiere on Monday, Gladstone recalled forming a bond with Keough in 2017 as they ran in the same Hollywood circles, when she was promoting Certain Women and the Daisy Jones & The Six star was releasing American Honey.
“I was aware of her work, anyway, but I feel like being in each other’s orbit then, I became very curious about who this talent was.

The new Hulu series Under the Bridge is infuriating. That’s not to say the series is not well done or crafted—in fact, far from it. This is bold storytelling that challenges the viewer to rethink their misconceptions. The result is appointment-viewing television that, by the end of the series, showcases some uncommonly powerful performances.
No, it’s infuriating because of what transpires from “actual” events. It’s tragic and horrific, and words cannot adequately describe the atrocities that occurred in the small, picturesque seaside town in British Columbia, Alberta, Canada. Under the Bridge is where the key players wish the story stayed, never seeing the light of day.

Deep into Hulu’s Under the Bridge, author Rebecca Godfrey (Riley Keough) defends the focus of her latest manuscript. “People can do horrible things, and that doesn’t make them inherently evil,” she insists. As she sees it, her book is simply challenging the reader to consider that an individual’s humanity is not defined by their worst deed.
It’s a big ask considering the subject in question has been charged with murder — but potentially a worthy one too, not least because the accused is just a teenager. Unfortunately, it’s also one Under the Bridge does not actually have the nerve to tackle head-on. Despite some moving performances (particularly from its young cast), the writing ultimately proves too vague and too muddled in its messaging to shed new light on much of anything.

Entertainment companies like Disney find themselves in a challenging situation. They need to invest in new and growing platforms like Disney+ and Hulu, while continuing to keep the linear lineups of networks like National Geographic and ABC filled.
To help fill that gap, they have increasingly turned to new, in-house documentary studios, meant to help keep lineups fresh, and to funnel original docs to streaming services.
ABC News launched its effort, ABC News Studios, last year. That initial slate included 4 films and 15 docuseries, including a spinoff of Nightline and projects from Good Morning America anchor George Stephanopoulos, among others.
A source close to the division tells The Hollywood Reporter that it is already profitable, feeding a pipeline of feature films and docuseries to ABC, Disney+, Hulu, Nat Geo, and other platforms.
