Matthew Vaughn's "Kingsman: The Secret Service" is a film about social class. Our hero Eggsy (Taron Egerton) comes from the working class. So, as he trains to be a Kingsman spy, he's bullied by the other students, who are all from the upper class, and is dismissed by the agency leader Chester King (Michael Caine).
Then there's the antagonist, Richmond Valentine (notice the first syllable of that name). Played by Samuel L. Jackson, Valentine is a tech billionaire who's become the sort of villain right out of the Bond movies he watched as a kid. The Valentine Corporation's hot new product is a Sim card that offers free internet and cellular service — at a great cost. The cards emit a signal that induces rage in the human brain; Valentine plans to let the masses kill themselves, slowing down global warming with Thanos-style population control.

For nearly a decade, audiences have been entertained by the secret organization known as The Kingsman in director Matthew Vaughn's series of spy movies that began in 2014 with "Kingsman: The Secret Service." Based on writer Mark Millar and artist Dave Gibbons Millarworld comic book series of the same name, Vaughn's movie adaptation was a big hit that spawned a franchise that has, to date, produced three movies — and more could be on the way.
Be it "Kingsman 3," another prequel film, a spin-off of some sort, or even a TV show, Vaughn seems intent on keeping this universe alive. But for those looking to catch up — or perhaps revisit — the series to date, we're here to go over the correct order to watch the movies in the franchise that have already been released. So, if we ever do get more from Taron Egerton's Eggsy or any of...

We're still waiting on a third proper entry in the "Kingsman" series (which very well may still happen), but even without the return of Taron Egerton as Eggsy, the franchise may live on in a pretty unexpected way. It was recently revealed by director Matthew Vaughn that a script for a sequel to 2021's "The King's Man," which was a prequel set during World War I, has been written. It would fulfill the promise of the first movie's wild post-credits scene and give us a "Kingsman" movie featuring Adolf Hitler as the villain.
But will it happen? Should it happen? Many questions linger at the thought of this movie becoming a reality.
"The next one is about the rise of Hitler, and how Hitler did come to power and basically was supported by the English aristocracy," Vaughn told Collider recently. The filmmaker, who also directed both "Kingsman: The Secret Service" and "Kingsman: The Golden Circle,...

"I don't like boring, serious films; I like entertaining escapism," filmmaker Matthew Vaughn said of his films at the New York Comic Con 2023 "Matthew Vaughn: From Kickass to Kingsman to Argylle" panel. Best known for directing genre-subverting movies like "Kingsman" (he and comic creator Mark Millar thought James Bond was getting "too serious") and "Kick-Ass", Vaughn prefers his action told with style.
While reflecting on his career since the 2007 film "Layer Cake," Vaughn reiterated his plans for "Kingsman 3" and "Kick-Ass: Reboot," with the latter starting filming next year and going a much different route than his original "Kick-Ass" film. He mentioned too that he's directing a musical that he can't talk about yet ("Elton John's catalog [referring to his producing work in 'Rocketman'] is pretty hard to beat"). He also dropped some interesting "Kingsman" trivia: Daniel Kaluuya and John Boyega were among Vaughn's top picks for Eggsy, the lead Kingsman. Though Vaughn went...

At a time when the James Bond franchise had never been more serious and solemn, in came Matthew Vaughn with the "Kingsman" films.
Based (loosely) on the titular comic book series created by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, Vaughn's first two "Kingsman" movies, "The Secret Service" and "The Golden Circle," are aggressively irreverent in their riff on the super-spy tropes popularized by Bond. These films are full of cartoonish hyper-violence and crass humor, from a blood-splattered single-take shoot-out in a church to one of the films' heroes sneakily planting a tracking device in someone's nether regions mid-coitus. Is it any wonder that Vaughn's prequel film "The King's Man," which he's admitted was his attempt at a stark depiction of WWI trench warfare on the level with "1917," proved to be one of the most tonally bizarre blockbusters put to celluloid in recent memory?

Taron Egerton is hoping for a "fitting" conclusion to the 'Kingsman' franchise. The 33-year-old will return as Gary 'Eggsy' Unwin for the last time in 'Kingsman: The Blue Blood' and is hoping that Colin Firth returns alongside him in the role of Harry Hart.Taron told Collider: "(Matthew Vaughn) has every intention of making it, and I have every intention of playing Eggsy one more time. That was always what I thought I was committed to doing."It's the role that made my name, I suppose, in a way, I just want it to be absolutely right if we do it again, and I want the story to do justice to the part that really changed my life."The 'Rocketman' actor continued: "I want it to be a fitting ending. Apple TV+ has given a series order to “Firebug,” a drama series starring Taron Egerton and created by Dennis Lehane.
“Firebug” will follow a troubled detective and an enigmatic arson investigator (Egerton) as they pursue the trails of two serial arsonists. Though fictionalized, the series is inspired by some of the true events presented in Truth Media’s “Firebug” podcast, which was hosted by Kary Antholis.
The project hails from Apple Studios and is developed, written and executive produced by Lehane. Other executive producers include Egerton and Richard Plepler through Eden Productions, which is under a multi-year deal at Apple TV+; Bradley Thomas and Dan Friedkin through Imperative Entertainment; Antholis for Crime Story Media; and Marc Smerling for Truth Podcasting Corp.
This marks another collaboration between Egerton, Lehane, Plepler, Antholis and Thomas at Apple TV+, who last worked together on “Black Bird,” the limited series that debuted on the streamer in July.

After portraying Sir Elton John, Taron Egerton is hoping to someday embody a different iconic figure: Logan.
The actor, known for his role as Eggsy in the first two Kingsman films and for playing John in Rocketman, spoke with the New York Times to promote his Apple TV+ series Black Bird in an interview published online Friday. The piece mentions that Egerton has met with Marvel Studios brass, including president Kevin Feige, and that he would like to follow in Hugh Jackman’s footsteps as the next Wolverine.
“I don’t think it would be wrong to say that,” Egerton, 32, told the publication with a laugh about his interest in the part. “I’d be excited but I’d be apprehensive as well, because Hugh is so associated with the role that I’d wonder if it’d be very difficult for someone else to do it.

This article contains some The King’s Man spoilers.
By the time The King’s Man rolled credits late last year, more than a century’s worth of lore and internal mythology had been established in the three-film franchise. From the Kingsman spy syndicate’s earliest origins during the Second Boer War in 1902 to that time Eggsy, aka Agent Galahad, rescued Elton John in 2017, there’s now a vast timeline of adventures, world-saving hail marys, and espionage double crosses littered throughout world history.
That’s pretty impressive for a franchise that writer-director Matthew Vaughn started as a riff on early James Bond flicks, as well as the many copycats who followed during the Spymania craze of the 1960s.
And in an ideal world, this would just be the tip of the iceberg for Vaughn, who has imagined a massive Kingsman shared universe. But what that would actually look like now, and how...

Guns, suits, and kicking ass. Those are the three pillars of Matthew Vaughn’s “Kingsman” series, which tracks the adventures of a secret spy organization that stops various global cabals from destroying the world via cartoonish ultra-violence and a devilish sense of humor. Both “Kingsman: The Secret Service” and its sequel “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” revel in an obnoxious combination of mid-century British aesthetics with new school juvenilia. Vaughn’s crass version of wink-wink sophistication ostensibly updates the Bond playbook for a coarser world, but it mostly telegraphs his supposed cleverness and nostalgia-happy referentiality, all of which is bathed in excessive blood and profanity. The films’ box-office success indicates the obvious: nihilistic provocations are a cheap, but effective high.
Vaughn’s latest entry into the series is a prequel, the long-delayed “The King’s Man,” which traces the early-20th century origins of the Kingsman organization. While it explains how the Kingsman organization was founded,...

Good news for "Kingsman" fans — waiting four years for more thrilling spy adventures might just pay off. Ahead of "The King's Man" arriving in theaters, Matthew Vaughn has announced that "Kingsman 3" is on the way. Not to be confused with the film arriving in theaters later this month, "Kingsman 3" will be the fourth in the franchise, continuing where "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" left off. Vaughn told comicbook.com, "We're all set...

Sometimes all you can do is admit you may have been wrong…Case in point, I am on record as saying that I fear a barrage of lockdown/isolation “Zoom” movies that are inevitability coming our way, I mean it stands to reason that as we haven’t been able to go anywhere and movie and TV sets have been shut down, of course people will jump onto Zoom and try to become the next Spielberg, because what the hell else are they gonna do? My fear though was that, much like the movie industry moves in trends, that this would become the trend and – honestly – I kinda just want to forget this period of history.
Then Host came along. A 50 minute Zoom-style horror that totally blew me away.

Apple is nearing an order for the limited series “In with the Devil,” with Taron Egerton and Paul Walter Hauser onboard to star, Variety has learned.
The six-episode series would be based on the 2010 novel “In With The Devil: A Fallen Hero, A Serial Killer, and A Dangerous Bargain for Redemption” by James Keene and Hillel Levin. The book tells the story of Keene’s real life when he was sentenced to prison but offered his freedom in exchange for coaxing a confession out of a fellow inmate, a suspected serial killer.
The series is described as being told through the lens of an intimate relationship between two prisoners, exploring the lengths that people will go to in order to seek redemption, if true absolution is ever really possible, and if so, at what costs. Egerton would star in the Keene role.
Dennis Lehane will write and executive produce the adaptation.

The current film, set to release in a little over a year is titled 'The King’s Man'. A new installment in the Kingman franchise, this film will take place in the early 1900s. Matthew Vaughn may have gotten his start in the industry as the producer of Guy Ritchie’s early crime capers before making the move behind the camera as part of the same genre in Layer Cake, but since adapting Neil Gaiman’s novel Stardust for the big screen in 2007, the filmmaker has exclusively operated in the realm of the comic book movie.
Admittedly, that only stretches to five projects, but after directing Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class, Vaughn has focused his energies on creating a Kingsman cinematic universe. The Secret Service and The Golden Circle did near-identical business at the box office to earn over $825 million combined, though the follow-up had far too much going on and the novelty of the subversive spy caper had well and truly started to wear off by the time the credits rolled on the self-indulgent 141-minute sequel.

The Kingsman franchise returns for its third instalment later this year, but it’s not Kingsman 3. The King’s Man is a prequel that will reveal the origins of the Kingsman secret service during the First World War. The film will stand apart from the modern-day movies focusing on Colin Firth’s Harry Hart and Taron Egerton’s Eggsy, then, but director Matthew Vaughn is now teasing that there will be “seeds” planted for the upcoming threequel.
While speaking to Empire Online, Vaughn revealed this interesting tidbit, as well as hinting that the conclusion of Eggsy’s adventures will contrast with the previous films, saying:
“We’ve put seeds for what’s going to happen in Kingsman 3 all the way back into this… And it’s going to be very different.”
It’s previously been reported that the British filmmaker would be stepping aside for K3 and letting a new director helm the movie.

The full trailer for The King’s Man has arrived, showcasing director Matthew Vaughn’s World War I-era origin prequel to the Kingsman film franchise, adapting Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar’s comic book series. Like the present-set films that preceded it, The King’s Man wears on its sleeve an action-packed over-the-top nature, except this time drawing upon historical elements to concoct a quasi-history for the formation of the franchise’s eponymous haberdashery-hidden spy organization.

20th Century Studios’ new trailer for “The King’s Man,” the upcoming prequel to the “Kingsmen” films, shows how the secret British spy agency came to be in the midst of the death and destruction of World War I.
The trailer features Ralph Fiennes as the Duke of Oxford, who brings his idealistic son Conrad (Matthew Goode) into the Kingsmen in much the same way that Harry Hart would take Eggsy under his wing nearly a century later. With the help of fellow agents like the sophisticated Polly (Gemma Atherton), the Duke and Conrad must foil a plan by the world’s worst tyrants to exterminate millions of people, with Grigori Rasputin (Rhys Ifans) serving as the Duke’s biggest foe.

Prodigy is a comic series that was put out by Mark Millar and Netflix last December, and now it seems it’s getting the movie treatment sooner rather than later.
Millar is the brilliant mind behind some great characters such as Hit-Girl, Kick-Ass and Eggsy from Kingsman. But the talented creator truly believes that Edison Crane will be the one that he’ll be remembered for, similar to how Ian Fleming’s associated with James Bond above everything else.
For those unfamiliar, Crane’s the main character in Prodigy, the comic drawn by artist Rafael Albuquerque and published by Image Comics.
When you think of movies that had the potential to launch entire cinematic universes, Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Secret Service didn’t seem like one of the more likely options. The R-rated action comedy managed to put a fresh spin on the familiar espionage genre though and was a critical and commercial success after earning over $400m at the box office.
An inevitable sequel followed, and while The Golden Circle was greeted by much less enthusiastic reviews, it still made just as much money as its predecessor. While a third installment always seemed likely to happen, it was soon announced that the Kingsman franchise was going to be spun off in numerous directions.

The King's Man Nycc footage promises a different kind of spy movie that could be as anachronistic as X-Men: First Class.
Matthew Vaughn has a confession to make. He’s watched all the “Oscar movies” nominated for Best Picture. He watches them every year. And while most of them are good, there are few he ever wants to sit down to view more than once. He’s not being pretentious when he admits this to a New York Comic Con crowd eager and ready to get an extended glimpse of The King’s Man, a prequel to Vaughn’s first two Kingsman movies. Quite to the contrary, in fact. Vaughn misses when epic adventures—many of them directed by David Lean—were the order of the day for both awards season and, more importantly, moviegoers.

"While governments wait for orders, our people take action." 20th Century Fox has debuted the main full-length trailer for The King's Man, an exciting new prequel movie in Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman series. The first teaser dropped in the summer, but this official trailer is even better. Damn this looks awesome! Once again directed by Matthew Vaughn, in this one we go back to the days of World War I, aka The Great War, to tell the origin story of "the very first independent intelligence agency." Taron Egerton as Eggsy isn't in this one, it's a whole new cast. Featuring an outstanding set of actors. Ralph Fiennes headlines, along with Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, plus Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance. The more footage we see, the more impressed I am by this. Looking great so far! All the action seems thrilling in...

The Kingsman franchise will soon expand beyond the adventures of Eggsy and Harry Hart, as The King’s Man looks to offer something quite different from what we’ve seen before in the beloved spy franchise. As you surely know by now, it’s a prequel movie that will reveal the origins of the secret intelligence organization and is set during WWI.
A few months ago, we got our first look at the pic via a trailer which was received pretty well by the fanbase and now, we’ve got yet another glimpse at the high-octane action thriller, which teases what seems to be a wild mash-up of period war movie and spy flick with director Matthew Vaughn’s signature kinetic and flashy style popping up all over the footage seen in the preview. In other words, it looks pretty fantastic and at the moment, we’ve certainly got high hopes for the pic.

There’s not much that’s known about The King’s Man as Ian Sandwell from Digital Spy has reiterated, but what is known is that it’s the prequel to Kingsman, the movie that kicked off this particular franchise and was followed up but Kingsman: The Golden Circle. What is also known is that the director is wanting to set up a third Kingsman movie at the same time that will finally bring the character arcs of Harry and Eggsy to a conclusion and possibly allow the films to rest. That and the fact that they seem to want to do an 8-hour

Every secret society has its roots, and the latest film in the “Kingsman” franchise goes back to World War I Britain to show the birth of a previous generation of elite warrior.
Ralph Fiennes stars in “The King’s Man,” which is officially the new title for the third “Kingsman” film that follows Fiennes in a prequel story before Eggsy (Taron Egerton) got trained by Harry Hart (Colin Firth).
“I know you want to fight,” Fiennes says to a dusty-haired kid (Harris Dickinson) as they stand in front of the Kingsman secret base. “But there are other ways to do your duty.”

The Kingsman franchise was a surprise success for Fox. 2014’s The Secret Service exceeded expectations, spawning a sequel in the form of 2017’s The Golden Circle, an in-production spinoff prequel titled The King’s Man and Kingsman 3. Up until recently, we didn’t know much about the third entry in the trilogy, and there’d been talk that the franchise’s mature content might see it cancelled due to Disney owning it after the Fox merger. Fortunately though, it seems that Kingsman 3 is indeed going ahead.

Elton John's musical biopic Rocketman is now in theaters, and if you've seen the first full-length trailer, then you know it's a wacky, wild, emotional ride. The film, which is produced by John himself, tracks the pop icon's rise from an ordinary youth to an international music sensation and showman. Although actor Taron Egerton, who plays John, has been around Hollywood for a few years now, he's still not quite an A-list name. Here's what you need to know about the young Welsh actor who earned John's personal approval for the role.

After The Secret Service became a surprise hit a few years back, the Kingman franchise looks set to stay as director Matthew Vaughn is spearheading a whole spy-fi universe. Following on from The Golden Circle, a prequel that explores the origins of the Kingsman organization is set to arrive next year, before Kingsman 3 then picks up and concludes the story of Harry Hart and Eggsy.
Reportedly called The Great Game, the Kingsman prequel takes place during the First World War and features an all-star cast including Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Other than that, not too much has been officially revealed as yet, but while speaking on the ReelBlend podcast, Vaughn did have a few words to say on the topic.

Director Matthew Vaughn said that the forthcoming Kingsman 3 will wrap up the saga of Taron “Eggsy” Egerton and his mentor, Colin “Harry” Firth.
The gimmicky British spy saga has seen the two survive the wipeout of virtually all of their fellow Kingsmen in 2017’s The Golden Circle, the sequel to 2014’s The Secret Service.
Vaughn told Digital Spy that “We’ve got to finish off the Eggsy and Harry relationship. The final chapter of their relationship needs to be told, which we’ve got ready to do, and I’m hoping to shoot that later this year or the beginning of next year.”

It is hard not to compare “Rocketman,” which officially takes off in theaters on May 31 but will have a special early nationwide Fandango showing on May 18, to last year’s tune-filled phenom “Bohemian Rhapsody.” For one, it shares the same director, Dexter Fletcher. It also centers upon a flashy British rock star, Elton John, who broke out in the ’70s and would become a gay icon. But what sets it apart from that paean to the magic of Queen front man Freddie Mercury is that the production isn’t burdened by many of the pitfalls that its predecessor had to overcome.
By most measures, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” a musical biopic about the life of Queen front man Freddie Mercury, was an astonishing success despite such drawbacks as having its original star Sacha Baron Cohen dropping out and scandal-enmeshed director Bryan Singer being replaced after taking long absences and clashing with the cast and crew.

Spy-fi fans will be pleased to know that Disney apparently has faith in Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman movies, though, as they’re said to be moving ahead with the upcoming prequel, Kingsman: The Great Game.
