- German military officer. Beleived to be the last surviving member of a group that carried out an unsuccessful attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler in July 1944.

- After the war, he studied law and economics. He frequently spoke at schools about German resistance to the Third Reich.
- He carried a cyanide capsule for the duration of WWII, in case his role in the plot was revealed.
- Had the 1944 plot succeeded in killing Hitler, von Boeselager was to have led 1,200 men to Berlin for an uprising against the Nazi regime. The uprising was code-named "Operation Valkyrie".
- He was assigned to an explosives research team, and was able to obtain top-grade English explosives for the July 1944 assassination attempt.
- In 1942, he joined a plot to kill both Hitler and Heinrich Himmler. In March 1943, he had a pistol, ready to shoot both men at a scheduled meeting with Field Marshal von Kluge. Von Kluge was von Boeselager's commanding officer and also a conspirator. When Himmler decided not to attend, von Kluge called off the mission.
- He had planned to go to law school and have a career in the foreign service. That would have required that he join the Nazi party, which he did not want to do. Instead, he enlisted in the army.
