Kittie have unveiled the new song and video “One Foot in the Grave,” the latest single from their forthcoming comeback album, Fire, arriving June 21st.
Unlike the previous, more groove/thrash-oriented singles, “One Foot in the Grave” harkens back to Kittie’s origins during the peak of the nu-metal movement. The glossy vocal production is theatrical and very early 2000s, while the deliberate slam-chords and pop-punkish tempo change are characteristic of Kittie’s early material.

Given those subtle anachronisms, it’s slightly ironic that the song is actually about “letting go of the demons of the past to begin anew,” according to singer-guitarist Morgan Lander.
“The excitement is palpable in anticipation of our forthcoming album release, with the unleashing of our latest offering ‘One Foot in the Grave,'” hyped Lander in the press release. “It’s a feisty, high-energy song about coming back from the...

Regarding the new album, Kittie singer-guitarist Morgan Lander stated, “10 years ago, if someone would have told us that we would be releasing new Kittie music in 2024, we’d have dismissed them right away. It feels like something deeper than fate that’s brought us together again, allowing us to create something fearless and magical for you. We’ve worked incredibly hard over the past year, and surrounded ourselves with the ultimate dream team to make this album a reality. We cannot wait for you to lose yourselves in the passion and strength of Fire.

Reunited Canadian metal outfit Kittie have dropped the new song “We Are Shadows,” their second single since returning from hiatus.
The band took our Heavy Song of the Week honors for the previous single, “Eyes Wide Open,” and “We Are Shadows” follows in the same vein of groovy thrash metal. The rhythms and staccato riffs are airtight and unrelenting, and frontwoman Morgan Lander takes a more melodic route vocally on this track, calling back to Kittie’s nu-metal heyday.
“‘We Are Shadows’ is about the uncertainty of a future that we can no longer control,” Lander explained in a press release. “We have come to a critical place in life and in our world, and much like an eclipse overtaking the sun, we are losing the light.”
She continued: “The image of shadows slowly fading in the evening darkness, and the analogy of ‘us’ as shadows in the night really...

Kittie have unveiled “Eyes Wide Open,” the first new song from the Canadian metal band in 13 years.
Last week, Kittie founder Morgan Lander announced the band’s new non-alcoholic beer collaboration with Australia’s We Are Pigs. Little did we know, Kittie also had a single drop looming — the first new music from the band since 2011’s I’ve Failed You.
After premiering on SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal station on Tuesday (February 13th), “Eyes Wide Open” is now available on streaming platforms and as a music video (watch below). The Nick Raskulinecz-produced track is a crushing return to form. Tight groove-metal riffs backing Lander’s domineering howls, recalling Vulgar Display-era Pantera with its combination of riffage and attitude.
“Our first new material in 13 years, ‘Eyes Wide Open’ is a vision quest for truth,” commented Lander in a press release. “It is a torch lit in the darkness of ignorance...

Canadian metal vets Kittie and South Africa’s We Are Pigs have joined forces to launch a new non-alcoholic beer brand, fittingly dubbed KittiePIG.
The joint Na beer collab grew from a previous musical collaboration between Kittie’s Morgan Lander and We Are Pigs on the latter’s 2021 single “Moot.”
It appears the bands not only share an affinity for the same style of 2000s industrial alt-metal, but also Na beverages — or least having a non-alcoholic option. KittiePIG was created specifically with metal musicians and headbangers in mind to “provide alternative beverage options at shows and music festivals,” filling “a gap in the market” as We Are Pigs’ Esjay Jones stated in a release.
The first beer from KittiePIG is a Saskaberry Blonde, brewed with saskatoon berries — native to Kittie’s Canadian prairies — along with hops and barley.
“I’m so excited for the metal masses to try KittiePIG!” enthused Lander via the press release.
