Bellator
Bellator 129 was a forgettable event for the most part. Paul Bradley dominated Josh Neer, and Houston Alexander fought down to his last-minute competition, Virgil Zwicker, had a point deducted for headbutting, and wound up in a draw. Thankfully, there are better things ahead, and that starts with this week’s event, Bellator 130, which features the return of the pro wrestling superstar turned Mma fighter (actually, he’s straddled the fence and done both of late), Bobby Lashley.
At last glance, Lashley was no longer Tna champion – but he may still have gold in his future. Why? Well, a win at Bellator 130 could set him up for either a title fight, or a title eliminator.
The even better news is that Lashley is far from the only star on the card. This is the type of card that is comparable to a lot of Ufc Fight Night cards in name...

The Ufc made history this weekend when it hosted its first ever women’s mixed martial arts match, its first ever women’s championship defense, its first ever openly gay/lesbian fighter, and its first ever female headliner. Yes, all of that in a single event that has already shattered a few records. This was not the first ever Wmma bout to be sure, but with the prestige, power, and position of the Ufc, holding a women’s fight anoints the growing movement within the sport with legitimacy and belonging.
It’s Ladies Night. Mitchell Stucky and I cover all of the action in the prelims (including a FotY candidate with Bermudez v. Grice) in part 1 of the Getting Lucky Mma Podcast and the entire main card in part 2.
Summary: The prelims saw the usual mix of exciting finishes and back-n-forth action throughout the Facebook and FX card with a few notable stinkers.

The Ufc's Ultimate Fighter (Tuf) reality TV series returned to our screens last Friday night, but arrived with a twist -- as well as the fastest knockout in its history, at just eight seconds. While the show carried the same format and dangled the same prize at the end of it all, the action was, for the first time, live and pretty much uninterrupted and the season will, in time, be far more interactive than ever before, offering fight fans the opportunity to participate and dictate the fates of those inside the house.
A runaway success since its inception in 2005, this latest tweaking should ensure it remains as such, following the odd hit-and-miss season of late. With change comes a period for reflection, however, and now seems as good a time as any to remember and highlight some of the show's very best success stories, if only to provide inspiration...

That looks like the makings of a complete and total disaster, and what do you know? That's exactly what happened on CBS on Saturday night.
The monumental news of the evening was the melee that broke out in the cage after Jake Shields defeated Dan Henderson to retain his middleweight title. Was this hooliganism between Henderson's corner and Shields' teammates? Nope. But it did resemble something straight out of The Warriors.
A surly Jason "Mayhem" Miller snuck into the cage to confront Jake Shields during the post-fight interview. Miller said, "What's up? Where's my rematch buddy?...
