- 1982 Abitur at the former Neusprachliches Gymnasium Pirmasens. Then studied political science, sociology and German folklore at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz; scholarship holder of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
From 1995 to 1999, he worked as an advisor to the SPD state association, where he was responsible for the support of subdivisions and commissions and for advising on local and primary elections. Since 1999, he has been spokesman for the Rhineland-Palatinate Minister of the Interior, Mr. Zuber.
