Michael Rademacher(1953-2003)
- Producer
Michael Rademacher spent part of his life in Germany, where he was
born. His parents were eventually able to leave Karl-Marx Stadt and
settled in the Bayerische district of Germany, finally emigrating to
Australia. Rademacher became a model in Australia and later in Europe.
He was briefly considered for the role of James Bond after Cubby
Broccoli spotted him in a French soap commercial. He formed Michael
Rademacher Productions with several partners. The company did mostly
in-house fashion videos in Europe and Australia, branched out into
documentary and invested in film production. Rademacher also worked as
a producer independently. A ski accident in the '70s caused damage to
his throat and he went through a series of operations. The accident is
thought to have contributed to his esophageal cancer, which rapidly
spread to the throat area.
After his death, Michael Rademacher Productions registered in New York State (they had an office there, as in London and Berlin) in order to pursue film production in the state. His partners attempted to force his widow, Maria, out of the company. In 2006, the company split, and she was able to retain the company name.
Part of his will stipulated monies for the formation of an organization to help children.
