Sydney, Jan 6 (Ians) Persistent rain in Sydney meant that no play was possible on the third day of the third and final Test between Australia and South Africa at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday.
The inclement weather had already played a role in nearly half of the first day’s play getting lost in the match. Things improved on Day Two when almost a full 90 overs were possible before the rain returned to force a washout for Day Three on Friday. The weather forecast suggestions are far better for Saturday when much less rain is on the radar.
Australia were batting at 475 for four when early stumps were called on Thursday. Usman Khawaja was unbeaten on 195 off 368 balls, including 19 fours and one six, while Matt Renshaw, who tested positive for Covid-19 before the start of the match, was alongside him with five not out.

Sydney, Dec 29 (Ians) The Sydney Cricket Ground (Scg) was on Tuesday confirmed as venue for the third Test between India and Australia, starting January 7, Cricket Australia (CA) said in a statement on Tuesday.
The Scg's eligibility to host the match was in some doubt because of a spike in Covid-19 cases on the northern beaches of Sydney.
"We have met regularly over the past week to assess the unfolding public health situation in Sydney and gauge its impact on border restrictions around the country. To date, we have been able to deliver a safe and successful summer, thanks to our detailed biosecurity protocols and the amazing work of so many great people behind the scenes," CA interim CEO Nick Hockley said in the statement.
"To that end, we have made the decision to keep the New Year's Test at the Scg, which has a wonderful recent history of hosting...

Another "Game of Thrones" wedding is on the way. Like Season 3's Red Wedding, Season 4's Purple Wedding will be a massive event on the show, and book author George R.R. Martin says the upcoming matrimony will be "as memorable" as its predecessor.
"It's going to be the wedding of the year, and as memorable in its own way as our wedding last season," Martin tells TV Guide. "It's what the fans call the Purple Wedding, based on the color of the wine, which plays a big part."
That wine comment should be a good hint as to where the wedding will take place, as there are certain Westeros citizens who are obsessed with the stuff and would demand it at a wedding. Expect for this to be a full-on wedding, and with a lot more festivities taking place than what went on at the Red Wedding. (In fact, you...

"Game of Thrones" has cast three more actresses for Season 4. Jane McGrath (left), Paola Dionisotti (center) and Gabrielle Dempsey (right) have all joined HBO's hit fantasy show in new roles for the upcoming season.
In an interview with Iftn, McGrath reveals she's playing a Wildling woman. She tells the site, "I'm up and down to Belfast on 'Game of Thrones'. I'm not even allowed to talk to my friends about it and can't be giving anything away! My character is beyond the Wall and it was stunning. When you're on set you feel like you're actually there. It's incredible!"
Though there's no guarantee that McGrath's role is named in the show or that it's even a speaking part, there are two main Wildling female roles that will likely be cast in Season 4: Mance Rayder's wife Dalla or her sister Val. It could be that McGrath will play one of those two parts.

When they were doing the speeches, Glenn and Sara gave me a special mention, which I appreciated." Steele also revealed that his 11-year-old (more)...
