James P. Hinkley

James Hinkley began his studies in theater at the Cranbrook Institute
in Michigan. He soon switched his emphasis to music and went on to earn
degrees in both performance and composition. He was one of the founding
members of Daedalus, a classical music ensemble dedicated to the work
of living composers, and has had his own orchestral and instrumental
works performed in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, London and
Berlin. He wrote scores for six episodes of MTV's "Liquid Television".
He has performed with the Baton Rouge, Toledo, and Akron symphonies,
and has served as principal cellist for the Lima (Ohio) Symphony, Ohio
Ballet, and the Ohio Light Opera. He currently lives on Whidbey Island,
Washington State, and remains active as a serious composer and
performer of both classical and jazz on the cello, various keyboards
and electronic instruments.
