The seventh episode of the show was all about glam, glitter, and beautiful women wearing expensive trousseau. The female-led cast of Netflix India Original Heeramandi came onto The Great Indian Kapil Show, talking about their beauty, expensive clothes, and experience working with the legendary Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The episode was as lukewarm as the actual series as well; the host could not get much out of the women. At first, it felt like Kapil Sharma was clueless about how to interact with so many beautiful women all at once.
Episode 8 is graced by none other than the international pop sensation Ed Sheeran. The man has earned so many music-related accolades all this time that it was completely unexpected of him to make an appearance on Kapil Sharma’s chat show. It was probably the Netflix influence that made the famous Indian host an international pop artist. Ed Sheeran was in...

Known for his act of a Mumbai bar girl, Julie, on ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’, Navin Prabhakar spoke about the inspiration behind his act on the comedy-based reality show hosted by Kapil Sharma.
He said: “This is an on-the-ground experience, we keep searching for characters, and the ones who really search for it do get it. So, I got this character in Lokhandwala (Mumbai). During that time, we were not able to afford the incoming and outgoing calls on mobile phones that would cost 16 rupees.”

So that time this character (a bar girl) was already inside, I copied her body language and voice and added my own script to it. The nation is in disbelief with the passing of one of its most influential comics, Raju Srivastava. As people from different walks of life mourn the comedian-actor-politician’s death, Ians looks back at the time when the then-unknown artiste took up small roles in films, including a couple of blockbusters, where his presence was almost missed. All this was years before he made his mark on India’s entertainment canvas with his body of work that spans stand-up comedy and television gigs.
Tezaab (1988): It’s this Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit-starrer film in which Srivastava played the character of an extra. He, however, went unnoticed in the film, which boasted of a huge star cast. But the future ‘King of Comedy’ hung in there and soon got his second film which was released the following year.

Stand-up comedy, a major attraction on entertainment channels just a few years back, has virtually disappeared from TV and is sprouting on the platform of Internet.
After "The Great India Laughter Challenge" in 2017, it's hard to recall any stand-up comedy show of significance telecast on any Hindi TV channel.
While it is being missed on TV channels, the urban youth is getting its dose of humour with comedy shows and channels on the Internet.
There are comedians Kunal Kamra, Zakir Khan, Atul Khatri, Varun Grover and of course, Vir Das, Hasan Minhaj and the like, who have become the millennials' favourites with their content which has got a platform via social media, live concerts and shows on Ott platforms or on YouTube.

New Delhi, July 14: Not so happy with lukewarm response to comedies, comedian Sunil Pal regrets that films that boast big names or have a fair dose of adult content get success at the box office.
In 2010, Sunil wrote and directed "Bhavnao Ko Samjho", a comedy featuring 51 stand-up comedians. Although it was panned by the critics and failed to entice box office, the film secured a place in the Guinness World Records for having a record 51 stand-up comedians in a single movie.

Shawn Arranha made quite the impression with his first film the suspense thriller Hide & Seek, where he took a genre not seen much in Hindi films, gave it a fresh new vibe and a unique eye. Added in a great cast, some killer music and a fab and scary story with some great twists that all melded together perfectly and you have a very good film that got wonderful reviews. Now the director turns his eye to a new genre – comedy with his next film Tukkaa Fitt. Produced by Aap Entertainment and Premal Goragandhi, the film goes to the floor later this month and is set to release early in 2012. Shawn sat down with Stacey and gave us the exclusive scoop on all things Tukkaa Fitt!
