Leni Mex
- Actress
- Editorial Department
Leni Mex is an Australian actress, residing in Austin, Texas. She was
part of the team which created the worldwide self-help phenomenon The
Secret; acting in it and assisting with casting and production. When
The Secret debuted, Leni moved to Los Angeles, along with the creator
and several other production members. With a penchant for comedy, Leni
then rose through three levels of Groundlings Improv training and also
performed stand up comedy at various Los Angeles venues, including The
Comedy Store. Prior to moving to the states, she had starred in a
sketch comedy TV series in Australia, called Barnaby Flowers. This was
an hour long show, every week, taped in front of a live audience and
combined with pre-taped sketches. On Barnaby
Flowers, Leni played herself and an array of comedic characters, her
favorite being the "creepy clown," who could only be seen by the show's
host, Jon, and would tell him things like: "When you touch yourself, I
grow stronger." Leni met her husband, Ryan, in L.A. in 2007. The two
moved to Texas, in 2009, for her husband's career. In Australia, Leni
worked not only as an actress, but also as a radio DJ, so finding
herself in small town Texas, (College Station,) she spent two years
doing morning radio for a hit station there, to overwhelming ratings
success. She also worked as a voice over actress, voicing local ads for
Outback Steakhouse and various other businesses. In 2014, Leni left
radio to have her second baby. Her babies both weaned, (phew, as her
daughter is now 4,) Leni is ready to return to stage, screen and
possibly hideous smoke filled standup comedy venues. Oh and she shot an
indie film this summer, which probably won't get listed on IMDB either.
In other news, Leni is no longer on Twitter or Facebook because she
always felt she deserved more followers than she had, which she
realizes is a vapid, time and life wasting thought for a mother and wife to have.
