Director, writer and cinematographer, Varon Bonicos born United Kingdom
18 May 1974, the son of late film editor Douglas Bonicos. His film
career started at 16 as runner for a film editing company.
Bonicos worked simultaneously as editor and director for several years,
during the period he worked on TV documentaries for Royal Dutch Shell,
Sky television that included a TV film about Queen Elizabeth II , art
installations for the The Arts Council of Great Britain, Design Museum
in London several commercials and music videos.
Bonicos's first documentary feature film was 'A Man's Story' filmed
over a 12 year period, focusing on the daily life of men's fashion
designer Ozwald Boateng. He filmed single handedly and worked in the
style of Cinéma verity, inspired by Dziga Vertov's Kino-Pravda. A Man's
Story was released in cinema's UK /USA late 2012 and shown around the
world in major film festivals.
Bonicos worked with Ben Silverman and Robert Redford to create hit USA
prime time TV House Of Boateng series for The Sundance Channel and
Viacom network.
