Having family secrets is one thing, but having a family secret that flips your world upside down in such a way that messes with your cultural and genetic identity can be a heavy burden for you to carry on your shoulders. For Kulap Vilaysack, she faced a hard truth as a teenager when she learned the man that raised her wasn’t her real father. It complicated her relationship with her mother and it marked the start of an emotional journey of uncovering more truths in her entangled family tree that would lead to her documentary Origin Story, which will screen at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival on May 7 ahead of its debut on May 10 on Amazon — all appropriate for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The documentary will also have a limited theatrical run at the Arena Cinelounge in Hollywood.

Last year, the Academy documentary branch had to grapple with a record 170 documentary feature submissions for the Best Documentary Feature Oscar. This year, it’s not so bad: only 166 were entered. The short list of 15 will be announced, along with eight others for the first time on a single date this year: December 17.
All year, branch members have been getting lists of secure online screeners available to watch on the Academy website, increasing in volume until last month, when they received a batch of 77, with more to come. It’s a burden to watch them all, so the ones with the most attention move to the top of the much-watch list. Give the advantage to early box office hits that were made available in the summer such as “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?,” “Rbg,” and “Three Identical Strangers,” as well as September’s list including critically hailed “Dark Money,...

In a year that has seen multiple documentaries find mainstream success, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released the list of 166 docs that have been submitted for Oscar consideration this year.
Among the films on the list are Michael Moore’s anti-Trump polemic “Fahrenheit 11/9,” as well as CNN Films’ Ruth Bader Ginsburg biography “Rbg” and Focus’ Mister Rogers retrospective “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”
Other films considered frontrunners include “Three Identical Strangers,” the wild story of triplets who were separated at birth by a bizarre experiment, “Free Solo,” which documents the first ever attempt to climb Yosemite’s El Capitan without any climbing gear, and “Dark Money,” an investigative report into the influence of billionaires on American democracy through the lens of a Montana congressional race.

Impeccably placed celebrity real estate tattletale Wanda Letyuhno snitched that rather than pack up and move to a larger home, “My Best Friend’s Wedding” and “August: Osage County” star Dermot Mulroney, who more recently had recurring roles on the long-running sitcom “New Girl” and the Showtime dramedy “Shameless,” opted to spend $2.065 million to acquire a neighboring property to one he already owns on a tree- and bungalow-lined street near the less fancy but still sought after western border of L.A.’s historic and haughtily genteel Hancock Park neighborhood.

We all have embarrassing sartorial skeletons hidden somewhere deep in our closets, both literally and metaphorically. Whether you felt at the time that the mullet you had in high school was the peak of high fashion or you thought layering ten tons of body glitter all over your torso was the hottest look of the Willennium, as you grow up, fashion mistakes are bound to happen. But thankfully, most of us didn’t grow up in the public eye with our every unfortunate style choice heavily documented. A fate Nick Jonas, much to his chagrin, was not fortunate enough to escape.

This designer behind Ed Hardy is back with a whole new line — and a whole new direction!
Fashion designer Christian Audigier, 54, is best known for his clothing line, Ed Hardy, that featured an array of skulls and roses with his popular slogan, “Love Kills Slowly,” which we often saw stretched across the chests of the Jersey Shore cast. While we thought the designer had taken a break from fashion he’s getting ready to mark his return with a whole new label, Lord Baltimore. While he officially launched the brand in May 2012, it wasn’t until One Direction members Niall Horan and Zayn Malik showed it off that we took notice.

What comes to mind when you think of Ed Hardy? Tattoos? Tigers? Tacky? The man behind the brand, french designer Christian Audigier , has listed his Los Angeles mansion for sale . The asking price? There's even a buyer's incentive -- Audigier is throwing in a Rolls Royce Phantom 5 along with the sale of the home. The car alone is worth more than a hundred grand -- enough to buy a house in many other cities. The California mansion where Michael Jackson died in 2009 is up for sale for a cool $28.9 million. The King of Pop had been renting the Holmby Hills property in the months before his passing on June 25, 2009 and his fashion designer pal Christian Audigier subsequently made arrangements to buy the house through his Ed Hardy clothing company to use as the firm's headquarters.
There were also plans to turn the building into a Jackson museum and open it up to the public, but Audigier failed to obtain authorization from local officials for the idea and the venture was scrapped. In the video which was filmed in 2009 while he was on a vacation in St. Tropez, Jon tells Hailey about a drunken party he attended with Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier the previous night. Jon also goes on to diss the good people of France: [As Hailey drinks a bottle of Evian water] They probably dipped that bottle in the toilet and put a lid on it. [...] The only nice things here [in...

The Surgeon General would surely not approve of Jon Gosselin's latest shenanigans. Radar Online has obtained a home video purporting to show the slothful, work-averse former Jon & Kate Plus 8 dad stoned out his gourd with former girlfriend Hailey Glassman. And given the rambling, bizarre behavior that Gosselin engages in on the tape—filmed while the couple vacationed in St. Tropez with Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier last summer—it's hard to attribute his actions to anything other than a dope-addled cranium. As the tape opens, Gosselin describes their culinary habits while hanging in France: “We’re munching on Pringles here in beautiful St. Tropez,...

Michael Jackson Appearance Triggers Suit
Even in death, Michael Jackson generates lawsuits ... this time it involves a douchey clothing designer, a car museum and a phantom gun.
Photographer Stephen Winick claims he was brutally attacked by security guards hired by Christian Audigier of Ed Hardy fame during his 50th birthday party. Michael Jackson attended the bash, which was thrown at the Petersen Automotive Museum in L.A.
In Winick's lawsuit, filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, he claims he innocently snapped a pic of Jackson, but Audigier was upset and wanted to delete the photo. So Winick claims Audigier unleashed his guards, who then allegedly beat the crap out of Winick.
Winick says one of the guards yelled "gun, gun" to amp up the attack.
In addition to Audigier, Winick is suing Ed Hardy, the museum and the guards. He wants unspecified damages.

Designer Christian Audigier is at the centre of a messy legal spat after allegedly ordering security guards to throw a photographer out of his birthday party in 2008 for taking bad snaps of the French stylist and guest of honour Michael Jackson.
Photographer Stephen Winick claims he was brutally attacked by Audigier's guards during the designer's 50th birthday party at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles in 2008.
Winick alleges he took a photo of Jackson as the King of Pop arrived at the party, but Audigier was upset and asked him to delete the shot.
The snapper refused and was left trying to defend himself from the guards.
According to TMZ.com, Winick is suing Audigier, the venue and the security firm.

Lindsay Lohan has been given a style boost after losing her deal with Emanuel Ungaro - bosses at colourful Los Angeles-based fashion house Ed Hardy are hoping to hire her to design handbags.
Lohan was reportedly dropped by Ungaro earlier this year after her debut runway show for the company in 2009 was a critical flop.
But the Mean Girls star has bounced back from her latest let down - she is in talks with Ed Hardy boss Christian Audigier to design a line of handbags.
A source tells Eonline.com, "Lindsay and the design team at Ed Hardy have mutual friends, and they knew she was interested in looking for a handbag license and partner. They thought she’d be a good fit and so did she."
Lohan also has her own leggings line; it is not known whether or not the Hardy deal will include that.

Lindsay Lohan and the Ed Hardy brand: Has there been a more sublime combination since chocolate and peanut butter were first mixed together? The part-time actress/full-time tabloid fixation has reportedly struck up a deal to design a line of handbags for Christian Audigier's fashion line, and like everything else in LiLo's life, she's totally throwing herself into like it was 2-for-1 Happy Hour at the local dive bar: "As of last week, there are three collections in development and numerous more are expected...Lindsay is very directly involved with the project, and she's always pulling things online and from magazines for ideas." Pop superstar Madonna is set to cash in on her status as a fashion icon - she's in talks to design her own clothing range with bosses at U.S. department store Macy's. The "Material Girl" established herself as a trendsetter early on in her career when she became known in the 1980s for her bleached blonde hair, fishnet stockings and her famous coned bra.
Now Madonna is negotiating a lucrative deal with Macy's bosses to bring her style vision to life in a collection of apparel, accessories, underwear and footwear, reports industry publication Women's Wear Daily. Executives at clothing company Iconix Brand Group Inc., the same firm which bought Jay-z's Rocawear line for $204 million in 2007, is believed to be involved in the venture, although a representative has refused to confirm or deny the reports.

French fashion designer Christian Audigier has dismissed reports he has bought Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch home in Santa Barbara County, California.
The man behind the popular Ed Hardy clothing line reportedly paid $90 million (£60 million) for his friend's former home, but he insists he would never have bought a place that only held bad memories for the King of Pop.
Jackson moved out Neverland in 2005 after the estate was raided by investigators looking for clues that would put the singer behind bars for child molestation.
Audigier tells HollyScoop.com, "He didn't like Neverland. He didn't want to go back there... so it's not Neverland at all."
But the fashion king has confirmed he plans to turn the Holmby Hills estate Jackson was renting when he died into a museum: "I have purchased the home Michael passed away in... I want to create a memorabilia and museum.
"So far, I'm buying a big collection of memorabilia and personal objects that he has."
And he reveals Jackson's last home was in a magical neighbourhood: "Nobody knows that two streets past his house was Elvis Presley's house. So two kings lived in the same area."...

Jon Gosselin is fighting mad and is determined to ruin Kate's chances of continuing a reality empire, if he is cut out of the picture. The father of eight children, who made a great living off the fact he was the father of eight children, is now blocking his kid's financial futures by stopping production on the Tlc revised reality show, "Kate Plus 8." Papa Jon has been a busy boy, hanging out with Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier, and a bevy of not-so-beauties that have diverted the portly dad of eight. His wife Kate has quietly tried to maintain an income and take care of the brood as Jon cavorted in Vegas and other tabloid-splayed locales. Now...

Jon Gosselin is stepping up in the fashion world. The father of eight is usually spotted around town dripping from head-to-toe in Ed Hardy, but not any more! Apparently Jon has dropped his collaboration with Christian Audigier and has started sporting men’s clothing line Cohesive.
