WGA, AMPTP reach “tentative” three-year deal.
The Writers Guilds of America West and East (WGA) and Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) have reached a “tentative” last-minute agreement to avert the impending writers strike.
The old contract expired at midnight Pacific Time on May 1. The new deal will now need to be ratified by the WGA’s board and eventually its members.
In a statement, the WGA confirmed that the teams have “concluded negotiations and have reached a tentative agreement on terms for a new three-year collective bargaining agreement” which it said was worth “$130m more than the pattern we were expected to accept”.
The WGA cited contribution increases to the organisation’s health plan, as well as expanded protections in options and exclusivity, and an increase in Pay TV residuals, as terms that it had made gains in.
Further details of the agreement will be provided in the coming days.

The CW aired the last episode of 90210 this week and some have complained that it didn't seem like much of a series finale -- particularly with the "Silver (Jessica Stroup) has cancer" storyline. What happened?
Well, TVLine offers...
Question: 90210 pretty much wrapped up everyone’s storyline with the exception of Silver's. It was kind of cruel just to leave things hanging on that cancer diagnosis. Was there supposed to be more to the story? —Tammy
Ausiello: Yes, but the 11th hour cancellation precluded the show’s brass from telling it. "It was a bit of a struggle not knowing where the series was headed," admits co-showrunner Patti Carr. "We thought we would have more time to tell the end of it. It’s our apology to the fans if some of the storylines feel like they weren’t where you thought [they'd] end...

Updated: The current fifth season of 90210 will be its last. The CW series has been doing very poorly in the ratings this season in its Monday slot, especially this midseason when it has been paired with The Carrie Diaries. February 18, 90210 drew just 500,000 viewers. Now the series’ May 13 season finale will also be a series finale. Seven episodes remain. “The CW has had five great seasons with America’s favorite zip code, 90210,” CW President Mark Pedowitz said in a release announcing the move. “I’d like to thank the talented cast, producers, and crew for all their hard work and dedication to the series. We are very proud of the West Beverly High alumni.” At the TCAs in January, Pedowitz suggested that 90210 could return, possibly for a final hurrah. “I am a big believer in giving fans a very satisfactory conclusion,” he said. “It’s something that we as a television industry need to do.

A One Tree Hill alum is set to make a significant impression on 90210 Season 5.
Robbie Jones - who starred as Quentin Fields on the former CW hit, and also as Lewis Flynn on Hellcats - is headed back to network, TV Line reports, in the key new role of Jordan Welland.
Look for this book publisher to take a romantic interest in Naomi and also get involved in many other upcoming storylines.
“We feel like we won the lottery when Robbie agreed to do a recurring role on 90210,” showrunners Patti Carr and Lara Olsen tell TV Line.
90210 moves to 9 p.m. and returns on Monday, January 21, where it will follow The CW's anticipated new drama, The Carrie Diaries.

Robbie Jones is fast becoming a CW staple.
The actor, who in recent years co-starred on both One Tree Hill and the short-lived Hellcats, has landed a heavily recurring role on 90210, TVLine has learned exclusively.

When we last left the "90210" gang, the Beverly Hills kids were rocked by Dixon's awful car accident. While we'll find out his fate during the Season 5 premiere on Monday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. on The CW, star Tristan Wilds speculates how Dixon will fare.
Read on for more scoop on Season 5 directly from stars Matt Lanter, Jessica Lowndes, Trevor Donovan and showrunners Patti Carr and Lara Olsen.

1. There are two very compelling reasons to watch the first episode. "You'll not only find out Dixon's fate in the premiere, you'll hear a new Carly Rae Jepsen song," tease executive producers Carr and Olsen. "So that's two really important reasons to tune into the premiere."
2. Although nobody will reveal what happens to Dix, they will speculate about his future. "Hypothetically speaking, if he does survive, it might be a long road to recovery from his accident," they say.

Jeah! Olympic gold medalist (and sometime-Michael Phelps-defeater) Ryan Lochte has made his very first post-Olympics career move: he's heading to "90210" for a guest spot during Season 5 of the CW drama.
Lochte has already talked about wanting to move to Los Angeles to start a career in fashion (those green sneaks and that American flag grill prove he's definitely got a ... unique sense of style). Perhaps the "90210" appearance will kickstart his new venture.

There's no maybe about the first celebrity guest star on "90210" Season 5. Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen, she of "Call Me Maybe" fame, will spread her newest catchy earworm on the CW soap when it returns on October 8.
Jepsen is set to perform a new single from her upcoming album, due out in the fall, but there's no way The CW will deny us some "Call Me Maybe" action. That'd just be cruel. (They already used the song in the Season 4 finale, but everybody knows there's no such thing as too much "Call Me Maybe.")
Here's how they'll work her in: Jepsen is the headliner for Adrianna's Las Vegas debut performance, but plans change once Adrianna finds out about Dixon's accident.

The Canadian phenomenon will perform — wait for it — 'Call Me Maybe' when The CW series returns in October. 90210 has a history of importing music superstars at the height of their popularity — remember when Nick Carter crashed that bachelorette party last season? — but I think the show may have just landed its biggest name yet. Well, maybe. HollywoodLife.com's sister site TVLine reports that Carly Rae Jepsen will guest star on the show's fifth season premiere, as the headlining act Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) is opening for in Las Vegas. Call her a 90210 guest star.
The CW drama has snatched up the hottest young singer on the planet for an upcoming guest-starring spot, as TV Line reports Carly Rae Jepsen will perform on the 90210 Season 5 premiere.
Jepsen will actually perform a new track on episode, one off her upcoming album. She'll appear as the headliner at Adrianna’s Las Vegas show.
“We fell in love with her song when we first heard it, and used it in last season’s finale before it was a national sensation,” 90210 executive producers Patti Carr and Lara Olsen told TV Line. “We think she’s an exciting artist and are thrilled to be able to have her music on the show again, this time in a live performance in our season premiere.”
This is the same installment, scheduled to air October 8, on which Justin Deeley is expected to make his final appearance as Austin.

Carly Rae Jepsen has been tapped to make a guest appearance on the season five premiere of 90210. The 'Call Me Maybe' singer is set to perform a song off her new album, reports TV Line. And about time, too! We had a pretty good indication that Supernatural would be renewed for an eighth(!) season when they announced last month that new showrunner Jeremy Carver would be taking over those duties from Sera Gamble, who has chosen to concentrate on other projects. Still, we kept waiting, and waiting…
Similarly, The Vampire Diaries has consistently scored well in the ratings for The CW, so again we were fairly confident, but still we were waiting to hear confirmation of a fourth season. Today is the day!
According to TVLine, the confirmation is an especially a good thing as Supernatural is set to end the current season with a giant cliffhanger. Which should also come as no surprise. And we have hope that something else good may come with that renewal, as Misha Collins has reportedly advised that he’d love to come back next season… Yes Please.

Patti Carr is new to 90210. But the executive producer assures fans: season four won't be a vast departure from the show they have grown to know and love.
It was simply an "exciting challenge to come in and decide how we were going to take these kids from childhood to adulthood," Carr tells TV Line in a wide-ranging interview. "The kids will start to define themselves and confront who they are."
One of the most pressing questions viewers have, of course, centers around Naomi and the final image of the May finale: is she pregnant? Based on photos from the episode ahead, it seems hard to believe.
The storyline will be "answered in the premiere," promises Carr. "And I will say that Naomi is not a liar. We’re adamantly against lying about being pregnant... But [she and Max] do deal with it and it spins their relationship in a different direction."

The CW’s 90210 kicks off its fourth season this Tuesday at 8/7c, and while a lot has changed (showrunners, cast members, college), new executive producer Patti Carr (Life Unexpected) tells TVLine that fans need not fret — it’s still the same emotionally-heightened coming-of-age sudser you know and love.

Not at all. It was an exciting challenge to come in and decide how we were going to take these kids from childhood to adulthood. The kids will start to define themselves and confront who they are.

Major, unexpected 90210 spoiler alert: A main character will reportedly get married on season four, and you're unlikely to guess who it will be.
According to Perez Hilton - yes, Perez Hilton - Teddy will get hitched to the new character played Ryan Rottman, who we reported last month would appear this fall as a gay rights activist.
The nuptials will allegedly take place in Las Vegas, and we can confirm the series recently shot an installment there (rumored to be the eighth of the season). Producer Patti Carr, meanwhile, has said Rottman will be featured in a "great storyline."
We'll update this rumor as more information becomes available, but it would make sense as a way to write Trevor Donovan out of the series. What do you think, fans?...

The CW has released details and photos for the season 4 premiere episode. Here's what we know: high school is over on 90210. She also walks into college expecting to be the queen bee, only to find out that she's significantly lower on the social ladder at Cu than she was at West Beverly High. Annie, who was supposed to head to Carnegie Mellon, gets some unexpected news that forces her to stay in Los Angeles. Liam, who has been away all summer, returns home and is determined to make a commitment to Annie.

From its hastily constructed beginnings as a no-brainer way in which to build buzz for the fledgling upstart CW network, generating headlines has never been a problem for 90210. Thus, it’s only fitting — as we countdown towards the much-anticipated fourth season premiere — that star Michael Steger (Navid Shirazi) continues in the show’s illustrious tradition by making a few of his very own. Namely, that this upcoming fourth season may mark the beginning of the end.
“I keep saying five years,” said Steger when asked during a recent one-on-one interview with the TV Addict as to just how long he sees the series lasting for. “But you know, that always changes, the CW likes to hold onto its shows.”

Changes are afoot on 90210. The kids have graduated, the adults are out of the picture and there are new showrunners at the helm.
But Michael Steger says the transition from Rebecca Sinclair to Patti Carr and Lara Olsen as lead writers has been "seamless," as cast members can go to the duo about anything and the focus is simply on making season four the best one ever for this CW hit.
What will it entail for Navid?
"He's running the family business," Steger said, adding that it's switched from porn production to music video and commercial production. "But he's still being haunted by his father's past. Certain obstacles will present themselves and make life difficult."
Chief among them? His father's brother, Amal, who somehow got away with Not being accused of child pornography.

Ryan Rottman is headed to Beverly Hills, and he's ready to fight for what's right!
The former Gigantic star and Greek/Victorious guest star will appear on multiple episodes of 90210 this fall as Shane, a young gay activist who is committed to marriage equality.
It's safe to assume Rottman's character will get involved with Teddy somehow, who may only be appearing in a handful of episodes, but who producer Patti Carr has said will be featured in a "great storyline."

Our 90210 favorites graduated from high school in May. But that doesn't mean everyone will be headed to college. Not even close, in fact.
We can confirm that only one series regular will attend a university when this show returns in September. The best guess as to that individual's identity? Naomi, considering Megalyn Echikunwoke has been cast as a sorority sister who feuds with AnnaLynne McCord's character.
What will others be up to?
Liam will be in charge of a bar. Dixon will be facing challenges in the music industry. Annie will be using the money she inherited from Marla for... something. "She's planning to leave and go to Carnegie Mellon - and she does not," executive producer Patti Carr teased to TV Guide.
As for other 90210 spoilers, expect to see more of Teddy than you previously thought, while Adrianna will attempt to redeem herself following a season that saw...

HollywoodNews.com: What in the name of Chord Overstreet is going on over in the 90210?
Word had it that Trevor Donovan, who plays gay teen Teddy on 90210, was not going to be in more than a handful of episodes. Donovan even made a public statement about what an honor it had been playing the role.
Well, just like Overstreet’s situation over on Glee, it seems things are not so cut and dry.
In a new interview with TV Guide, new showrunners Patti Carr and Lara Olsen had to say about it all:
Carr: The studio heads had talked about whether or not all the cast would be brought back, but they left that to the creative decisions about where the characters would go and what the story lines would be. Changes are coming to 90210.
With new showrunners Patti Carr and Lara Olsen on board, AnnaLynne McCord made it very clear in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly: many cast members will not be returning.
“That’s something we’ve been told,” the actress confirmed. “I think their reasoning for thinking they might slim down the cast is because it might be too much going with having people in different places."
We already know that Debbie and Ryan are gone. Based on events from the finale, it would be easy to write out Liam. And perhaps Adrianna will be shipped off to therapy?
But with such a major development affecting Naomi to conclude season three, no way McCord is going anywhere... right?
Possibly wrong, however.
