This writer recently hit the set of filmmaker Creep Creepersin’s latest flick, Lovesick Captivity, in Burbank, California, and while there chatted with the director concerning the feature as well as the slew of upcoming projects he’s currently prepping.
Our visit came on the third and final day of principal photography for Lovesick Captivity (Creepersin works historically fast); yet, we found the filmmaker rather relaxed, regardless of the time constraint. The psychological thriller, which chronicles the rising domestic strife between a man and his blushing bride (the latter is stalked by a serial killer and subsequently has been forced into self-imposed house arrest), stars longtime Creepersin collaborator Charlie Vaughn, Dylan Vox (Brides of Sodom), Jeff Dylan Graham (Don’t Look in the Basement), Robbyn Leigh (Devil’s Den), Katie Costick (City Rats) and supermodel Heather Hewitt. Andrew Ceperley serves as director of photography, and Nikki Wall and Creepersin produce along with Tom Ingram.

This past Saturday, May 15th, Dread hit the road from La to Vegas, and sometime between playing fetch with a border collie over Bloody Marys in a dilapidated desert bar in Yermo and winding up with a gastro-intestinal malady (Sin City is apparently full of germs), this writer swung by The Polly Staffle Grindhouse Fest at the Sci-Fi Center for the world premieres of director Creep Creepersin’s features Orgy of Blood, Vaginal Holocaust, and Caged Lesbos A-Go-Go.
On hand for the event were filmmaker Creepersin and producing partner Nikki Wall, and just before the two engaged in an audience Q&A for Orgy of Blood, we managed to sneak a few minutes outside the Sci-Fi Center in order to get the skinny on release plans for the previously mentioned trio as well as the duo’s latest ventures: the feature films Lake Death and Wall’s forthcoming directorial debut,...

Jason Lives is awesome. It’s not quite as awesome as The New Blood but it’s far better than most of the rest of the series. As a standalone chapter it works fairly well, but it mostly serves as the middle ground between the Tommy Jarvis saga and the later entries with progressively more and larger explosions. Sporting the second best Jason behind Kane Hodder in C. J. Graham and remarkably engrossing direction by Tom McLoughlin, it could be considered the third or fourth best series entry without much argument. But that’s not really the point of these movies. Each of them tries something at least slightly different from the previous installments (with the notable exceptions of Parts 2 and 3), and McLoughlin’s movie has never disappointed me upon numerous revisits. If you want in-depth critical analysis you’re not gonna get it; this is just a kickass horror flick.

Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning gets a bad rap from series loyalists. If you don’t know anything about it, I won’t spoil it, but there are certain aspects of it that irk people immensely. The major criticism the film gets doesn’t really bother me at all, but I still don’t enjoy the film. It’s a slow, murky and very mean-spirited film that doesn’t really fit in with the series all that well. Gone is the brutal but fun-loving spirit of The Final Chapter and the action movie bonanza of the later entries is nowhere in sight. What we’re left with is a black sheep and, for what it is, it just doesn’t work all that well. It’s a cruel movie with unlikeable characters and unwarranted deaths, and it just can’t pull that combo off like some of...

On February 3rd, Paramount Pictures will begin rolling out the long-awaited series of Deluxe Edition Friday The 13th DVDs. Contained in the bonus features for each disc is a series of short films called Lost Tales From Camp Blood, inspired by the F13 saga. Produced by King Media exclusively for the DVDs, director Andrew Ceperley has given Fangoria an exclusive look at the first three installments, along with news on parts IV, V, and VI!
Ceperley, the creative director of King Media, got involved when the company was initially approached to work on the Friday The 13th project last summer after having handled other Paramount DVD features including material for the Star Trek series. "One of the concepts we pitched was a series of short 'kill scenes,' which went over quite well." he tells Fango. "After a few meetings, they evolved into their own little short films. Being the horror fan that I am,...
