Riot grrrl greats Bratmobile officially returned to the stage after 20 years this weekend at the Mosswood Meltdown festival in Oakland (after making their unofficial return with a secret show in Los Angeles a few days before).
The Mosswood Meltdown set was punctuated by a special performance of the Runaways’ song, “Cherry Bomb,” which Bratmobile covered on their 1993 debut, Pottymouth. For the ecstatic closer, the band received an assist from the Linda Lindas, as well as the daughters of Bratmobile’s drummer Molly Neumann and keys player Audrey Mars (plus some...

Riot grrrl pioneers Bratmobile have reunited for their first live shows in over 20 years. Last Wednesday (June 28th), they played a secret show at Zebulon in Los Angeles, and on Sunday (July 2nd), they headlined the Mosswood Meltdown festival in Oakland. Check out videos of their performances below.
The band’s appearance at Zeublon last week was unannounced, and the gig served as a “warmup” of sorts for their set at Mosswood. Nonetheless, Bratmobile — who were joined by Tiger Trap’s Rose Melberg — ran through an exciting set that featured classics and covers, like a rendition of The Runaways’ “Cherry Bomb.” For that song, they were joined onstage by upcoming rock outfit, The Linda Lindas.
The Linda Lindas joined Bratmobile onstage for Mosswood as well, where the band delivered an almost identical set to the one Zeublon witnessed, including the high-energy cover of “Cherry Bomb.” Bratmobile first announced they would...

Riot grrrl icons Bratmobile have today announced their first live show in over 20 years. The band join a legendary lineup at the upcoming Mosswood Meltdown festival in Oakland, California, on July 2nd.
The last time singer Allison Wolfe and drummer Molly Neuman performed together was on September 9th, 2002; for this reunion, they’ll be joined by guitarist Rose Melberg (of the pioneering indie pop group Tiger Trap), Audrey Marrs on keys, and Marty Key on bass.
“It’s been more than 20 years since our last tour, and life has changed and grown in many ways,” Wolfe and Neuman write in a press release. “In 2019, we got the original lineup back together to play a big birthday party for our band sister, Tobi Vail of Bikini Kill. After the show, we talked about playing again, but it wasn’t the right time, and then… 2020. Now we are both living in Los Angeles,...
