So will the inevitable 'Death of Bin Laden' film be a gritty indie or big studio effort? As soon as President Obama announced that Osama Bin Laden had been killed, you know that studio execs started calling each other to figure out what properties were already in development that could be reworked as a movie about the killing of Bin Laden. It was only an hour after the first announcement that the Al Qaeda leader was dead that Deadline [1] ran a piece about two Bin Laden films that are close to a starting point. One is a Paramount film based on the book Jawbreaker, written by CIA operative Gary Bernsten, which is about the first attempt to kill Bin Laden in the initial invasion of Afghanistan that took place right after 9/11. The other film is Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal's movie Kill Bin Laden -- that's the small 'black...

Just hours after Osama Bin Laden’s death at the hands of U.S. Navy seals on Sunday, we wrote an article predicting how long it would take for a film version of the history making events to be put into production. Turns out, it’s going to be a lot sooner than any of us could have imagined.
Deadline reports that even before yesterday’s events, Oscar winning director Kathryn Bigelow had been preparing to cast an Indie movie astonishingly titled Kill Bin Laden, which would revolve around a failed attempt to kill the Al-Qaeda terrorist and mastermind behind 9/11 as he was hiding out in the border region of Pakistan and Afghanistan. It would be a black-ops thriller set around the same special forces team who would eventually kill ‘The World’s Most Wanted Man’ and would be based on a screenplay by Bigelow’s Hurt Locker writer Mark Boal...

Looks like "Kill Bin Laden" is going to have to get a new title.
"The Hurt Locker" director Kathryn Bigelow and writer Mark Boal recently began meeting with actors for an Osama Bin Laden assassination project according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The story follows a failed Black Ops mission by the Us military to capture the Al-Qaida leader. Michael Fassbender was previously in contention for the project while Joel Edgerton was said to be circling the part as well.
Then a few hours ago, history kind of pulled the rug out from under their feet as word broke than Bin Laden had been killed by U.S. forces in a Pakistani compound.
While much of the U.S. celebrates in the news, the question for those involved with the film now becomes where do they go with it. Does it stick to the original story but throw in some quick re-writes to incorporate the news,...

It's when fiction collides with reality that people flock in. The news of Osama bin Laden's death on Sunday, May 1 rejoiced not only the nation, but also a particular group of people in the movie industry.
Deadline reported that Kathryn Bigelow who directed "The Hurt Locker" was on the verge of casting for a movie tentatively called "Kill Bin Laden". The Oscar winner and her collaborator Mark Boal were already planning the production of the indie project which is "based on an earlier unsuccessful mission to try to kill the Al Qaeda leader responsible for the 9/11 terrorist attack on America as he hid in the border region between Pakistan and Afghanistan."
However, Bigelow's rep said that the movie is not entirely focused on the Al Qaeda leader. Details are still scarce but words are, the team is eying Joel Edgerton as the lead actor and that Megan Ellison, daughter of Oracle chief Larry Ellison,...
