Once upon a time -- aka Aug. 9, 2009 -- a little show named "Shark Tank" premiered on ABC. Coming onto television in the wake of the 2008 financial crash, it offered entrepreneurs a chance to compete before a panel of high-powered investors for cash -- out of the investors' own pockets -- to jump-start their dreams.
Created by Mark Burnett ("Survivor," "The Voice," "The Bible"), "Shark Tank" landed on Fridays in March 2011 for its second season, facing one of the most inauspicious days of the week in network television.
But Burnett believed in his little show. Sitting on the set on Oct. 18, 2010, during filming for the second season, he tells Zap2it, "Around 2 p.m. today" -- at the moment, that was about 15 minutes away -- "28 years ago, I got off a plane in America for the first time, with a couple hundred dollars in my pocket. Oct. 18, 1987.

"The sharks are back..." or, at least they will be. ABC is renewing Shark Tank, their Friday night reality show, for a full fourth season.
This season has featured entrepreneurs Robert Herjavec, Kevin O'Leary, Barbara Corcoran, Daymond John, Mark Cuban, Kevin Harrington, and Lori Greiner (replacing Corcoran on selected episodes).
The entrepreneurial series, the Us version of Dragon's Den, has always been on the verge of cancellation each season but this year, that's not the case at all.
Airing on Friday nights, Shark Tank has been averaging 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.70 million total viewers. It often wins its timeslot and has improved the network's performance in the timeslot. Year-to-year, Shark Tank is up by 14% in the demo and 15% in total viewership.

Shark Tank Season 3 Trailer
Shark Tank may not be the highest rated series on ABC, but could easily be the most entertaining, so thank goodness we’re getting a third season. The season is set to premiere tonight with a whole new batch of hopefuls approaching the shark-like judges Robert Herjavec, Barbara Corcoran, Kevin O’Leary, Daymond John, Kevin Harrington and Mark Cuban (returning after guest judging last season) with their various businesses and products. They’re goal? To convince one of the sharks to invest in what they have to offer.
EW.com had the first look at a new trailer for the season and it looks just as intense as ever. The fun comes from watching the judges rip into unsuspecting, overconfident entrepreneurs. If you’ve seen the show before you know exactly what I’m talking about. If not, just tune in. You don’t need to have seen the previous seasons.

The businesspeople of Shark Tank make some pretty clever deals on the reality show but it feels like the best one apparently must go on behind-the-scenes. Despite two seasons of poor ratings, ABC has renewed Shark Tank for a third round of episodes.
On Shark Tank, entrepreneurs are given the opportunity to pitch their fledgling businesses and inventions to a panel of millionaires to get their feedback and, hopefully, a deal than can help take their projects to the next level. The panel consists of Robert Herjavec, Kevin O'Leary, Barbara Corcoran, Kevin Harrington, and Daymond John.
After a lackluster freshman run that averaged a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.82 million viewers, Shark Tank was given a short season two renewal of eight episodes (plus a leftover from season one). In an attempt to shake things up and hopefully attract some more interest,...

Jeff Foxworthy isn't an Internet billionaire like Mark Cuban, a real-estate mogul like Barbara Corcoran, a ruthless venture capitalist like Kevin O'Leary, a fashion mogul like Daymond John, a computer giant like Robert Herjavec, or an infomercial king like Kevin Harrington, and he generally doesn't negotiate multiple multimillion deals before breakfast.
But when your boss asks a favor, it's hard to say "no."
In between being on the road as a standup comedian and writing books, Foxworthy had a stint as host of Fox's game show "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?"
That show shares an executive producer, Mark Burnett, with ABC's business-reality show "Shark Tank," which gives hopeful entrepreneurs that need an investment a chance to pitch their ideas to a panel of business experts that have money to invest.

After a sneak peak on Sunday, Shark Tank officially kicks off season two tonight with a brand new batch of hopeful inventors and entrepreneurs and a few new sharks circling, waiting for the next good idea. This time around venture capitalists Kevin O’Leary, Robert Herjavec, Barbara Corcoran, Daymond John and Kevin Harrington will be joined by guest sharks Mark Cuban and Jeff Foxworthy.
In a recent exclusive interview with two of the sharks, Kevin O'Leary and Robert, discussed the addition of Cuban and Foxworthy to the team, some of the best and worst pitches and advice for young business people.
The promos for the new season say the sharks offer over $10 million, more than double what was invested last year. O’Leary and Herjavec said this is definitely an indication that the ideas are stronger and that more credible people are coming forward. They...

We finally get a date for the return of Shark Tank, and hopefully the show will capitalize on the wasteland that is Friday night television. Of course, we Americans have apparently been forced to add some excitement to the format that has done well in Canada and England on its own, by way of adding Jeff Foxworthy and Mark Cuban, but at least it's back.
I'm not sure why this show didn't do better. It did enough in the ratings to get another season (eventually), but it didn't seem to get much going around the water cooler. The show in generally, which I've been watching for years on CBC and BBCAmerica (as Dragon's Den), is a lot of fun, and I can't tell you how many products I've seen in stores after they hit these shows. Recently, some women's footwear in a bag that was on the Canadian version.

New York - Shares of H&H Imports, in which 50 Cent has a stake, gained on Monday after the rapper promoted the company via Twitter. But the stock fell Tuesday and Wednesday after 48 hours without tweets from the music star, the New York Post reported.
Over the course of two days, shares of H&H, already a penny stock, fell 36 percent to 25 cents.
That was a reversal of momentum from a big jump on Monday that had pushed the stock up from 10 cents to 39 cents, making 50 Cent about $8.7 million in paper money.
50 Cent’s final tweet to-date on the stock came late Monday, according to the Post. Citing its ticker symbol, he wrote: "Hnhi is the right investment for me it may or may not be right for u! Do ur homework."

New York - Rapper 50 Cent made $8.7 million in paper money on Monday thanks to some tweets, the New York Post reported.
The singer helped pop the shares of the penny stock of H&H Imports, in which he has a stake, by talking it up on Twitter over the weekend, the paper said.
"You can double your money right now. Just get what you can afford," he reportedly tweeted. H&H owns a marketing firm called TV Goods that was founded by Kevin Harrington of ABC reality show Shark Tank fame, according to the paper.
H&H stock gained 29 cents to 39 cents on Monday. That helped boost the value of the singer’s stake by $8.7 million, the Post said.
50 Cent, aka Curtis Jackson, received 30 million shares of H&H in a private placement last October, according to the Post. In March, the firm’s auditor raised questions about its ability...

ABC recently decided to renew Shark Tank for a second season. Though the TV show's ratings haven't been very good, the network opted to give it another shot, albeit a limited one. They ordered just eight new installments and have one left over from season one.
In addition to Shark Tank regulars Barbara Corcoran, Kevin Harrington, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John, and Kevin O’Leary, comedian and entrepreneur Jeff Foxworthy will join the panel for at least three episodes.
ABC has now added an additional shark, Mark Cuban. He's the owner of the Dallas Mavericks, the chairman of the HDNet cable channel, a former Dancing with the Stars contestant, and an experienced entrepreneur. Cuban will join the venture capitalist panel for three episodes. Presumably, the Foxworthy and Cuban guest shots won't overlap.

The alphabet network recently announced that they were renewing Shark Tank for a second season. Though the program is popular with a devout group of viewers, it hasn't exactly been a winner in the ratings. For now, ABC has only ordered seven new episodes.
The program features entrepreneurs pitching their ideas and businesses to a panel of possible investors, a group of millionaires nicknamed "the Sharks." In season one, the panel was made up of Barbara Corcoran, Kevin Harrington, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John and Kevin O'Leary. In season two, comedian Jeff Foxworthy will join them for three episodes.

Shark Tank, one of my favorite shows from last fall has been renewed. Eight episodes have been ordered, and it will return in 2011, according to reports in trade publications. Things weren't looking good for Shark Tank after the ABC cancelled plans to air repeats and the lone unaired episode this summer. Still, word was that the network was still considering ordering a second season, possibly mixing up the shark panel.
Well, ABC has decided to renew Shark Tank for another season, albeit an abbreviated one. The alphabet network has ordered eight more episodes of the reality series and sharks Barbara Corcoran, Kevin Harrington, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John and Kevin O'Leary are all set to return.
For at least three installments, the shark panel will be joined by comedian Jeff Foxworthy. While Foxworthy doesn't typically come to mind when thinking about entrepreneurial ventures, he does own his own lines of calendars, greeting cards, beef jerky, and barbecue sauces. As an entertainer, he also produces comedy albums, books, and hosts TV shows.

ABC has renewed the Mark Burnett/Sony TV unscripted series Shark Tank for a second season with an 8-episode order. The five Sharks from Season 1, real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran, “infomercial” industry pioneer Kevin Harrington, technology entrepreneur Robert Herjavec, fashion designer/businessman Daymond John and financial expert Kevin O’Leary, are all returning and will be joined on the panel for 3 weeks by stand-up comedian Jeff Foxworthy who is described as a self-made successful businessman with a slew of albums, books, comedy tours and TV gigs as well as his own lines of greeting cards, calendars, beef jerky, barbeque sauces and casino slot games. Based on the Japanese format Dragon's Den, Shark Tank gives budding entrepreneurs a chance to become successful –- and possibly wealthy –- business people. The contestants must first try to convince five tough, multi-millionaire tycoons - aka the Sharks - to part with their own cash...

"Shark Tank" fans rejoice: ABC is renewing the business-reality cult-favorite for a second season, plus adding a familiar comedian to the show's judging panel.
Jeff Foxworthy is joining the series as a Shark for three episodes. ABC is ordering eight hours total from executive producer Mark Burnett and Sony Pictures TV.
The five Sharks from the first season are all back: real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran, infomercial pioneer Kevin Harrington, technology expert Robert Herjavec, fashion owner Daymond John and financial expert Kevin O'Leary.

ABC has announced that it has renewed the business venture/reality show Shark Tank for a second season of overly dramatic episodes. What's more, it's adding some official comic relief to the roster of sometimes-so-ridiculous-they're-funny judges: Jeff Foxworthy.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, ABC is asking Sony Pictures TV and exec producer Mark Burnett for another eight hours of Shark Tank. The show has entrepreneurs presenting their business ideas to five business high-flyers (the titular Sharks). The latter have the option to invest or opt out.
The first season of the series had five Sharks in its tank: real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran, infomercial pioneer Kevin Harrington, technology expert Robert Herjavec, fashion owner Daymond John and financial expert Kevin O'Leary. Foxworthy will join the five in three episodes of the second season.
Shark Tank is based on a concept familiar to audiences in Canada (and numerous other countries) from the superior Dragon's Den.

It's been months since ABC aired Shark Tank in primetime and many have assumed that the show's dead and buried. Not so. The reality series has a lot of fans and there's still hope that the series could return for a second season.

While the ABC's Shark Tank hasn't been a big winner in the ratings, it has won over a devout group of viewers who can't seem to get enough.
Last month, two of the "Sharks," Kevin Harrington and Daymond John, broke the news that ABC was ordering new episodes of Shark Tank. In truth, the series isn't going back into production for a second season. Three installments had been left sitting on the shelf and two more were pieced together from unused segments.
ABC has now announced that the series is returning on January 8th and will air on Friday nights, taking Ugly Betty's old timeslot. That Shark Tank will be airing in one of the "Friday night deathslots" may not seem like much reason to celebrate. In truth, this may be the show's best chance at survival.

On Sunday night, ABC aired a new reality competition series. So, how did Shark Tank do? Did it succeed in the ratings or was it eaten alive by the competition?
From The Apprentice's Mark Burnett, Shark Tank gives budding entrepreneurs the chance to make their dreams come true. To do that, they must convince five tough, multi-millionaires to part with their own hard-earned cash and give them the funding they need to jumpstart their ideas. The five are Robert Herjavec, Kevin O'Leary, Barbara Corcoran, Kevin Harrington, and Daymond John.
But the show's not as one-sided as it may seem. The business people are looking for solid investments and, once the "sharks" find a project they like, they negotiate to take as big a percentage of the profits as possible. How far is either side willing to go?
