The second day of Lollapalooza 2022 featured surprise guest spots and artists paying homage to others during a stacked lineup that included headliners Dua Lipa, Machine Gun Kelly, and Bob Moses. While Friday featured an array of international acts, host city Chicago was given props with a dedication to an artist gone too soon, while others acts covered everything from the Beatles (Taipei Houston hit “Eleanor Rigby”), Lily Allen (The Regrettes performed “Smile”), Inxs (Bob Moses’ rendition of “Need You Tonight”), and Avril Lavigne, who also made an Irl appearance by night’s end.

Critically beloved albums like Radiohead‘s “Ok Computer” and “Kid A,” St. Vincent‘s self-titled 2014 album, and Fiona Apple‘s “Fetch the Bolt Cutters” have all won the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album, making it one of the most consistent categories for quality. This year the alternative field will see the addition of Best Alternative Music Performance after years of alternative songs having to compete in rock or pop fields. But who is going to get in?
Multiple previous winners are returning. The Smile, a side project for Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood, has earned critical success with the record “A Light for Attracting Attention,” which is led by the singles “The Smoke” and “You Will Never Work in Television Again,” either of which could be recognized in the performance category. In a similar vein, Gorillaz‘ Damon Albarn has his own side project titled “The Nearer The Fountain,...

We’ve been craving it. They’ve teased it. The legendary French duo, Justice, has been promising new material for 2016 and we’ve been left frothing at the thought. Keeping the hype at a rolling boil, Justice just made a surprise appearance on Busy P’s Nts radio show for a two hour guest mix, twisting our arms with more anticipation.
This mix is everything that isn’t Hardwell, Snails, or Diplo, contorting disco, house, synth rock, and a slew of sub-genres into one eclectic treat. Spanning the decades, the mix packs the best from Nicolas Godin, Hudson Mohawk, Mr Oizo, Death From Above 1979, Jackson and His Computer Band, and so many more. Press play above, and get caught up on some dance music history.
As if that wasn’t enough, Justice has already cast their dominion over New Year’s Eve, scheduling a DJ set alongside Gesaffelstein and...
