As highly enjoyable as Tom King’s run over on Batman has thus far proven to be, I’ve been very much pleased to see that James Tynion IV and the various artists that have worked with him for the past two years have succeeded in making Detective Comics feel like a markedly different book. They’re both fantastic, sure, but having two flagship titles featuring the same character with the same flavor is a trapping that isn’t uncommon in this medium, and I’m glad that’s certainly not the case here.
So, while Batman has (mostly) chronicled the adventures of a solo Dark Knight and has more recently focused on his relationship with Catwoman, ‘Tec has acted as somewhat of a team-up book. Uniting the Caped Crusader with the likes of Batwoman, Red Robin, Spoiler, Orphan, Batwing and even Clayface, it’s proven to be a darling...

When you really think about it, Justice League is probably one of DC’s marquee titles to have seen the fewest changes in scribes over the course of this decade. After Geoff Johns set the bar with his now legendary run during the New 52 days, Bryan Hitch ran with the ball upon the start of Rebirth. And, now, it’s Christopher Priest who’s tasked with handling the publisher’s premier superhero team.
While none of us can be too sure of the selection process that allows someone to land such a gig, a personnel shift makes a lot of sense at this point. After all, with the Justice League movie having debuted in theaters not long ago, what better way to create a friendly jumping on point for new readers than with a new creative team?
If we were to hazard a guess, this particular case may have something...

Regardless of whether or not you’ve been enjoying Bryan Hitch’s run on Justice League that’s been enduring since last July, you have to admit that different creative teams can come as a breath of fresh air, even if it’s only for the interim. That said, the next three issues of the series dedicated to spotlighting DC’s premier superhero team will consist of done-in-ones, with a variety of writers and artists lending their talents before Hitch returns with #25.
The first duo up to bat is none other than writer Shea Fontana and artist Philippe Briones, the former of which proves to be a good fit for the project given her experience writing for ensembles – especially with a focus on strong female characters – with DC Super Hero Girls. Plus, there’s also the fact that she’s taking over Wonder Woman next month with issue #26, so this...

Comic Book Reviews: DC Round Up Week 11-16-2016
This week Batman’s plans for Operation: Break Bane’s Damn Back! Continues with an unexpected (but not really) twist, Green Arrow continues to deliver, and I basically give up Aquaman being interesting. To top it off I’m thinking I’ll finally drop Suicide Squad as despite Jim Lee’s artwork the story is just dumb. It’s lowest common denominator dumb. Characters acting different then they do anywhere else, being forced to feel more like the “movie”, and now potential zombie Captain Boomerangs. How did the other books fair this week? Read on!
Aquaman #11
Story: Dan Abnett Art: Philippe Briones, Gabe Eltaeb
Review: So it takes Arthur nearly getting beaten to death by the Shaggy Man (yes that’s a real villain, a robot that’s indestructible and looks like Big Foot) to finally win some good graces back...

Comic Book Reviews: DC Round Up Week 08-17-2016
DC Comics has been killing it with sales lately, and for good reason! The Rebirth has been a success with almost every series delivering well-written and illustrated stories. Whatever editorial direction Geoff Johns put the company on, it’s worked! The characters feel fresh and new again, while still keeping true to the status quo set up in the New 52 Universe. Could the books do a slightly better job at feeling more “interconnected” (No that doesn’t mean crossover!)? Sure! But regardless, each individual series feels very well put together and on a focused plot. So without further delay, check out the hot books from this week’s DC Comics Rebirth line up!

Comic Book Reviews: DC Round Up Week 08-03-2016
When I first started writing reviews for Lrm I stated I would stick with all the DC Rebirth Issues until at least issue 6 before considering any to drop. So far, I’ve pleasantly been surprised by my complete interest in All the Rebirth Titles thus far! We are approaching issue 4 for most of the newly revamped series, with still many more trickling in that show promise. As the first “wave” of books get closer to issue 6, I’ll do a quick rundown on those series and try to help new readers choose which books might be best for them. Until then, be sure to sound off in the comments on how you’re liking (or disliking) the DC Rebirth!

An Endless source of debate, controversy and criticism is the way in which comic books are adapted into other media, such as movies.
More often than not, changes are made to simplify complex, tangled stories that have unfolded over many decades in the comics. Fans have often criticised studios over these modifications but, in my view, it's a case of whether characters are still recognisable and whether alterations work on screen.
The hope among superhero enthusiasts has been that Marvel would produce more faithful adaptations because it also publishes the comics on which the films are based.
But even Marvel makes changes. And the next Iron Man movie, due out in May 2010, is an example with its new version of Whiplash, a villain played by Mickey Rourke.
Iron Man's comics first featured a character called Whiplash back in 1968. He worked for criminal organisation the Maggia and his alias was Mark Scarliotti.
