Amy-Leigh Hickman, one of the stars of Cbbc's award-winning series The Dumping Ground, is set to appear in Eastenders.
She makes her debut next week as Linzi Bragg, a newcomer who seems set for romance with Jay Brown, played by Jamie Borthwick.

The BBC has defended the use of violent scenes in Thursday night's edition of EastEnders following complaints from viewers. The episode, which went out in a pre-watershed slot, saw Jase Dyer (Stephen Lord) lose his life following a confrontation with a group of gangsters who stabbed him. Later, the character's dead body was seen by viewers in hospital scenes which featured Jase's son Jay Brown, played by Jamie Borthwick. Long-standing EastEnders dog Wellard is to be killed off from the soap after 14 years. Wellard, played by a bitch called Kyte, turned up on Albert Square in 1994 when Robbie Jackson (Dean Gaffney) found him as a stray and saved him from his neglectful owner.
