Fred Emory Smith was trained at the Berklee College of Music, where he received the Doug Timm Award for Outstanding Musicianship in Film Scoring and had the honor of conducting Howard Shore's unforgettable suite to Martin Scorsese's The Aviator for his commencement ceremony after being coached by Mr. Shore himself.
Once he moved to LA, Fred began working with various established composers and orchestrators. He worked on projects including: Transformers 3, Need for Speed: The Run, Disney XD's Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero, Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery 1 & 2, Marvel's Agents of Shield, and Outlanders. As well as a music arranger for the 87th Academy Awards.
He has composed the music for Grace (HBO Asia TV Mini-Series), House in The Alley, The Rich Woman (directed by Le-Van Kiet), Busted Buggy Entertainment's Magic Hour (directed by Cole Mueller & staring Trevor Morgan and William Russ), and a family adventure feature entitled Adventurer's Club (directed by Tomasz Szafranski).
Fred won Best Music Composition for HBO Asia's Halfworlds TV show in the 2017 Apollo Awards.
His current projects include working on the animated series Star Wars: Forces of Destiny for Lucasfilm and a new family adventure feature film entitled Rock 'n Roll Eddie.
