At the end of Bruce Beresford’s 1981 coming-of-age film “Puberty Blues,” two teenage girls who had been relegated to surfer-groupie status grab their own boards and defiantly charge into the waves. More than 30 years later, young women are still fighting for their corner of extreme sports, and “Skate Kitchen” celebrates female skateboarders who demand their right to grind and pop and kickflip whether the boys like it or not.
The narrative debut of documentarian Crystal Moselle (“The Wolfpack”), “Skate Kitchen” celebrates the liberation and the sisterhood that comes with skateboarding, with a mostly refreshing take on how teen girls deal with parents, boys and each other.
Young phenom Rachelle Vinberg stars as Camille, a shy, bespectacled Long Islander who is nonetheless skilled and fearless. In the opening scene, we see her wipeout after attempting to jump over a set of stairs; the board gets her between the legs (another character...

Justin Timberlake dropped his new video for "Can't Stop the Feeling" Tuesday, featuring a handful of fans of all shapes and sizes dancing along to the 35-year-old singer's latest track. It's a fun concept - one that Timberlake heightens by giving each dancer his/her own title card during the video's finale. But it's also hardly the first time a big-named artist turned to the people for a little music video help. Here are X more notable offerings. 1. Maroon 5 - "Sugar" Maroon 5 shocked fans by crashing a handful of weddings in Los Angeles. And while some of the nuptials featured were staged,...

Last night, the Go Hard tour touched down in Toronto at Td Echo Beach, presented by Live Nation in association with Hard. The roster featured a diverse lineup of artists and the city had the pleasure of witnessing sets by Eric Prydz, Dillon Francis, Destructo and many more. While the weekend’s weather included intermittent rainstorms, it gave festival-goers even more reason to “go hard.” The wet conditions brought out flocks of ponchos and makeshift umbrellas, but it didn’t stop anyone from enjoying the music.
The day began with opening sets by Ethan Kath of Crystal Castles, Cosella and TOKiMONSTA – all of whom put on a show that warmed up the crowd and provided the soundtrack to some sand and puddle grooving.
Next up was Big Gigantic, who proved to be one of the crowd favourites of the evening. They threw down live renditions of tracks like DJ Snake vs.

After the season 5 premiere of the hit AMC TV show "Breaking Bad" raked in 2.9 million viewers, expectations were high for the season's next episode. So when the first part of the plot called for a scene at a food-testing facility in Hanover, Germany, workers had to get creative.
In a behind-the-scenes video by AMC, director Michelle MacLaren explained how the team worked to transform a local high school on location in Albuquerque, N.M., into a German corporate building.
'To make this realistic for Germany, each department did their own research. So wardrobe did research, and the art department did research, the props department did research to make everything authentic," MacLaren said.
Assistant prop master Trina Siopy also noted the team had to nail down several cultural differences.
"We have a couple German police that we had to research what they actually wear," Siopy said in the video. "They don't...

Walking into the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati, museumgoers are treated to a wall plastered with the mural work of street artist Shepard Fairey. From the get-go, then, visitors are told they are entering into a world with its fingers on the pulse of the latest trends in contemporary art. The Fairey foyer was not what brought me to the Cac, though. I was brought by a friend to see the museum's Spectacle: The Music Video exhibit, something I was nervous about, thinking I would be spending the next few hours fixing headphones to my head after approaching the TV atop the next pedestal. But as one heads up to the second floor to check out the stellar sculpture work of Francis Upritchard, one begins to hear murmurs of music. On reaching the top two floors of the museum, you are definitely not in a contemporary arts museum any longer.

Before I start, a big Get Well Soon to our buddy Jacob, our Junior Senior Correspondent, who had a procedure yesterday to get a better look at his heart. Here’s hoping for a quick recovery, and enjoy that Valium while you can!
Happy Late Ash Wednesday! While I think it’s hysterical that Stephen is giving up Catholicism for Lent, I also found it doubly funny that by eating pork, “Stephen” was breaking Stephen’s Ash Wednesday abstinence. Oh, Catholics, you are so wacky! But apparently not as wacky as those Jews and their skull doilies. I also love how Stephen had a wet-wipe, a Yarmulke, and a huge plate of bacon just hanging out underneath his desk. I will say that I think that Stephen makes a much better looking Catholic than Jew.
