New Delhi, Sep 6 (Ians) Indian driver Gaurav Gill is gearing up for one of the toughest and gruelling rallies in the World Rally Championship (Wrc) calendar-Acropolis Rally in Greece, scheduled from September 8-11.
This will be Jk Tyre driver Gill’s third outing in the Wrc along with co-driver Gabriel Morales from Brazil after the duo delivered some impressive performances in Kenya and Finland.
Popularly known as the Rally of the Gods, the event will cover a total distance of 1,192 km including 16 Special stages of 303 kms. With soaring summer temperatures in Acropolis, the stages of Elatia, Bauxites and Tarzan will become even more daunting as the drivers and their cars can succumb to the twisty, dusty, rock-strewn mountain roads.
On Thursday, the iconic Olympic Stadium in the Greek capital Athens will host a 2km quickfire opener super special stage where cars will run two at a time in front of...

When it comes to video games, the rally racing genre is a strange beast. Far more people appear to take part in the digital version of the sport than would ever be caught watching an event live or on TV and this has led to rally games almost being a staple of each new generation.
Codemasters recently brought their take on the sport back to consoles with the universally (and deservedly) acclaimed Dirt Rally, while Milestone carried on their work in the genre after losing the official Wrc licence, releasing the passable but unremarkable Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo. The beneficiaries of Milestone’s loss were French developer Kylotonn Games, who grabbed that official licence and released Wrc 5 last year.
With this year’s attempt – Wrc 6 – they’ve added some improvements to the mix that bring the game closer to the real deal than you’d expect. At times, there’s...

When I first agreed to take on the task of reviewing Mxgp 2, I wasn’t sure if I was the proper man for the job. For starters, I know next to nothing about motocross. Heck, I barely know anything about motorcycles, period. So, theoretically, for me to talk about Milestone S.r.l’s racer would be a little foolish. The more I thought about it, though, I realized I’m not a completely terrible choice for the job. The way I see it, my lack of knowledge of the sport lets me look at the title from the perspective of the non-super fan.
Right from the get go, you’ll notice that Mxgp 2 gives players a smorgasbord of single-player options. For those that are looking for straightforward racing, the Mxgp and Stadium Series events are where you will want to go. These events let players race on either MX...

Although it isn’t a big sport here in North America, rally racing has always piqued my interest. That’s because it’s fast and visceral, and requires both amazing skill and great reflexes. For those reasons, and more, I’ve been a big fan of some of the sport’s video game adaptations. Dirt, especially.
These games are at their best when they’re fast, fluid and control well. If they’re too heavy on the simulation side of things, that fun is sometimes lessened, although developers have been able to find a good balance in the past. Unfortunately, Milestone’s Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo doesn’t fall into that category, and exists as a rather forgettable (not to mention frustrating) take on an awesome sport.
Where Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo does excel is in its track design, because its courses are inspired by and designed to resemble ones found in the real world,...

Nine-time World Rally Champion Sébastien Loeb is the most accomplished rally racer of all-time. That’s what makes Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo, a game in which Loeb gave constant feedback to the development team, so exciting. Italian developer Milestone S.r.l. teamed up with the living legend to make the most realistic simulator yet, and from the looks of it, they’ve succeeded.
To learn more about Loeb’s involvement in the project, We Got This Covered recently spoke with the game’s lead designer Alex Zucca. We touched on their competition in the rally scene, what feedback Loeb gave the team and much more.
Check it out below, and enjoy!
We Got This Covered: One of the really cool features is that players can play on the Pikes Peak Hill Climb track. Was it important to include this track, where Loeb has one of his best performances, and...

I have a storied history with racing games. Back in the days of the Nes and Commodore 64 I loved nothing more than playing Outrun and Rad Racer – you know the types of racing games I mean, the arcade-style racers where you could put pedal to the metal and drift round tracks at speed. Then there were the top-down and isometric racing games like Ivan “Ironman” Stewart’s Super Off-Road Racing. Hell I even remember enjoying Hard Drivin‘… Which is not something you’ll hear many people say!
However as technology progressed and realism took over the racing genre, we got racing simulators rather than out and out fun arcade racers and my interested waned. It took some years for me to find my way back into the racing game genre. First with the Burnout franchise, then the awesome Spilt/Second and finally Microsoft’s Forza Horizon games. Those titles brought...
