America’s Next Top Model creator Tyra Banks took to Twitter to honor Jael Strauss, a contestant on the reality competition series who died Tuesday at the age of 34 after a battle with breast cancer.
“Top Model has lost a beautiful soul,” wrote Banks. “We will all remember Jael and her fun-loving spirit and beautiful soul.”
Strauss was a contestant on season 8 of Top Model and made it fairly far in the competition, placing 6th. In October, she announced her cancer diagnosis on Facebook. From there, she gave a candid and optimistic look at her journey that was very true to Banks’ comment about her fun-loving spirit. In November, she entered hospice.
A Go Fund Me page started by Strauss’ partner and friends last month to help defray her medical expenses confirmed her death on Tuesday.

Miranda Kerr gathered her Victoria's Secrets ladies together last night for a Sexy Circus Halloween Party at NYC's Catch rooftop lounge. Her fellow Angels Chrissy Teigen and Kate Upton dressed up for the bas, as did former Vs model Nicole Trufio and former America's Next Top Model winner Jaslene Gonzalez. One person who did not join in on the fun was Miranda's husband, Orlando Bloom, who apparently stayed in with their young son Flynn Bloom. Miranda has been extra busy lately in the run-up to next week's annual Victoria's Secret fashion show, which is going down one week from tomorrow. She's also managing her Kora Organics skin care business and recently took to the company's blog to share her gratitude toward its loyal followers. Miranda wrote, "To everyone who has shared their stories with us, thank you so much. . . . I hope you love what we do at Kora Organics. We...

"America's Next Top Model" returns with an All-Star edition tonight -- featuring contestants who want a second chance at the title. But whatever happened to the show's prior winners? Some, like Cycle 6's Dani Evans and Cycle 8's Jaslene Gonzalez , have gotten steady work. Both walked at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week this week. Others like Cycle 3's Eva Marcille and Cycle 7's CariDee English have gone the reality route and hosted their own shows. Adrianne Curry -- the original "Top Model" -- topped headlines with her separation from "Brady Bunch" star Christopher Knight and her racy outfits. Click on the "Launch Gallery" button below to see what fifteen prior winners are doing now: "America's Next Top Model" is just one of many shows returning this week. Check out our 2011 Fall TV Guide below to see when your favorites are coming back: What show are you looking forward to most this fall?...

"America's Next Top Model" has been criticized for not creating supermodels, but it does create working ones! Two former winners -- Jaslene Gonzalez of Cycle 8 and Teyona Anderson of Cycle 12 -- have already walked at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Gonzalez donned yellow lipstick and sportswear for the Origami fashion show, but the following night looked stunning in a black jumpsuit. Anderson walked for designer Kimberly Goldson during the "Project Runway" show. Click on the "Launch Gallery" to see the photos: Natasha Galkina , runner-up to Gonzalez in Cycle 8, also walked in the "Project Runway" show. Tyra Banks would be proud! Other former "Top Model" contestants haven't been so successful. Tyra's pulled together 14 fan favorites for an "All-Star" edition of "Top Model," debuting this fall. Check out their photos below: And be sure to watch Tyra's ridiculous, over-the-top promo for the upcoming season: She's such a drama queen! Read more...

Confession: I haven’t seen an episode of “Antm” since Jaslene took the crown in Cycle 8, so I was sort of shocked to get caught up with this season and learn it was already in Cycle 15. That’s six whole winners who have posed their way into modeling obscurity since I last laid eyes on Ms. Tyra and the gang. Lucky for me, it appears absolutely nothing about the show has changed: the girls still bring the drama while competing for a somewhat irrelevant prize, the producers still give them ridiculously ugly makeovers, and Tyra still thinks she’s Oprah. It may...

We admit it, we've always had a bit of a crush on "America's Next Top Model" judge Nigel Barker (left, with previous "Antm" winners Danielle Evans and Jaslene Gonzalez). What's not to love? He's dashing, he's a brilliant photographer, he's got that charming British accent -- and now he's written a compulsively readable new book, "Nigel Barker's Beauty Equation," in which he shares his expert beauty and fashion tips. We chatted with Barker about everything from the importance of compassion to Queen Latifah's hotness...

(S14E05) When 'America's Next Top Model' starts off with a statement about drinking pickle juice and bodily functions, you know there will be something really odd about the episode. Anslee continues to cry through most of the episode, but fortunately for her, Tyra isn't done with airing her emotions on the show, and she doesn't even land in the bottom three.
My biggest concern for this show is the fact that Angelea gets high amounts of praise for looking heavily transsexual. I'm not sure if I get her whole appeal. Whereas Cycle 8 winner Jaslene could look drag, she understood her angles and fixed her chin by the end. Angelea still hasn't been given enough criticism about looking more feminine and could be the winner for 'RuPaul's Drag Race.'

America's Next Top Model Cycle 8 winner Jaslene Gonzalez is paid to be pretty, not smart. Which is a good thing for the 22-year-old beauty. Ok! Magazine asked Gonzalez at a recent premiere how she felt about the riot that erupted at an Antm casting call last weekend in New York City. Gonzalez, not having heard about the melee, initially endorsed what had happened. "I feel like it's just part of the excitement of the show," she replied. "You never know what to expect. It’s all types of characters and personalities. Why not cause a riot? It makes great TV," she replied. Uh, Jas?.

"America's Next Top Model" winner Jaslene Gonzalez speaks to "The Insider" about being in an abusive relationship. The Puerto Rico-born Gonzalez recalls one incident in which which she feared for her life. "There was a moment where I was suffocated, and that was something I thought would never happen," she tells "The Insider." "I thought I was going to die. I really lost my breath -- I was trying to hard to get him off of me. But then it just came to the point where he let me go." She says the level of violence she experienced made her want to reach out to help others. "And that's why I really want to speak about and share my story because girls think that it's okay to go back to the situation and go back into the cycle when all it does is only escalates." Gonzalez, 22, is the spokesperson for...

Well, how about that? An actual high-fashion model who doesn't have a weird personality or gimmick or vocal defect (hi, Jaslene!) won America's Next Top Model? Truly, this is an amazing country, with an amazing down-market tv network (Hi, CW!). Anything can happen here. Wigs and Joker-esque smiles for all! Except me, of course, because I thought Baby Topanga would definitely take this cycle/season. Looking over her qualifications, she seemed a perfect fit for Antm winners' main duty: appearing in the "My Life as a Cover Girl" ads during the next cycle season. Annaleigh looked like a walking Delia's catalog (check!), she wasn't at all high-fashion (check!), she could deliver a commercial well or at least not horribly (check!), and she had somewhat of a personality, as evidenced by that stupid peace symbol necklace she insisted upon wearing at all times (check!). True, she didn't have...

Paris has been making the rounds for her new BFF show in NYC, but there are plenty of parties to hit between interviews. Last night she and Benji celebrated the grand opening of Haven nightclub before she headed to The View this morning. Paris may have moved on since her stint in jail last year, but Joy couldn't help bringing it up when she thought a criminal record would prevent Paris from voting in the upcoming presidential election. Paris was quick to set the record straight and hopefully her participation in the election will go further than nominating herself for candidacy. Throughout America's Next Top Model's 10-cycle/season reign of stupidity, Emmy Award Winner™ Tyra Banks has heavily relied on stunt disability casting to spice up the contestant pool. Over the years the show has had a legally blind contestant, a contestant with Asperger's Syndrome, multiple plus size or "real size" contestants (definitely a disability when it comes to modeling), a contestant who clearly has some kind of undiagnosed shout-speech disorder (Jaslene), a contestant who underwent female circumcision, and a Russian mail order bride contestant (not a physical, mental, or developmental disability, but definitely a lifestyle disability). Still, Tyra has yet to find an aspiring model in a wheelchair, or that holy grail of stunt disability casting: the aspiring model who happens to be an amputee--which means that when Tyra finds out about BBC 3's upcoming Britain's Missing Top Model, she's no doubt going to salivate (with her eyes!), and keel.

So, not to gloat, but I toooold you so. Whitney won! And, if you don't like it, Whitney will stomp over to your fridge, extensions floating on a gust of wind of her own creation, and direct you to precisely which eggs you can suck. When you think about it, and smile with your eyes, Whitney's ascension was inevitable--and not just because she gave the best flashback quote in the beginning of the episode. In true pageant style, it all came down to platforms. Tyra recognized that there has already been an Antm role model for awkward talkers (Jaslene) so Anya couldn't win. And while Fatima's platform (female circumcision awareness) was a good one, Fatima herself couldn't sell it--after all she couldn't even sell mascara. Whitney and her platform of not being built like a bicycle frame was irresistible. Having the first plus-size, excuse me, full-figured...
