I like Reese Witherspoon, but this might be bad form. If you already won an Oscar doing a bio-pic of a musician, should you really do another one? At least she's changing genres.
Variety says Reese, seen here as brunette from her portrayal of June Carter Cash in Walk the Line is netotiating to play Peggy Lee, the torch song singer who made "Fever" a classic of the era, constantly redone but never better. That song came well into Lee's singing career - 1956 - by which time she had started to branch out into films and writing and performing songs for movies, as well.
She was even nominated for an Oscar for her acting in Pete Kelley's Blues and provided several voices for Lady and the Tramp.
Witherspoon, who has a bit of clout as a producer as well, grabbed the life rights to Lee's story and took it to Fox.
