Began screen writing in late 90's and graduated with MA Screenwriting at De Montfort University (2002) and later MA in Playwriting and Writing for Stage & Media Broadcast (Central School of Speech & Drama) 2009.

His first drama script 'a racy family drama' was picked by ITV's then Head of Drama Nick Elliot for consideration as a new adult TV series. Since attaining two MA's in TV screenwriting and playwriting (De Montfort University and The Royal Central School of Speech & Drama respectively) he has had several options on TV and film projects and wrote episodes of BBC's Doctors shortly after graduation.
DLT Entertainment producers of the UK's long running and successful sitcom 'My Family' commissioned Richard to create and develop a TV screenplay for West End stage dance show Burn The Floor. Presently Richard has been in talks with the likes of Red Planet and other well known production companies regarding drama and comedy projects as well as writing comedy sketches for CBBC 'Dick & Dom' producer Steve Ryde.
Over the past ten years Richard has developed good relationships with some of the most well known TV producers in the business. In 2011 Richard was nominated for 'Best Play' by The Off West End Awards for his acerbically dark comedy drama Trading Faces which is now being transposed into a TV script and is available for reading. - As a child Richard made an appearance in Sam Peckinpah's controversial movie Straw Dogs starring Dustin Hoffman and Susan George.
- Richard's first job at 17 was acting as 'chauffeur' to drag artiste Barry Stevens around night clubs and working men's clubs of West Yorkshire and Manchester.
- Richard joined the Bradford Playhouse at 9 years of age and the Halifax Playhouse at 15.
