The world has waited with eager expectation for the identification of a mysterious giant eyeball that washed ashore in southern Florida, and now the professionals believe they have an answer.
"Experts on site and remotely have viewed and analyzed the eye, and based on its color, size and structure, along with the presence of bone around it, we believe the eye came from a swordfish,' says Joan Herrera, of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
The group believes the eye was cut out and discarded by a fisherman. A beachgoer discovered the giant blue eyeball, still bleeding, and bagged it up to hand over to proper authorities.
The Fwc says genetic testing will be conducted to confirm their hypothesis. And the world breathes a collective sigh of relief.
