Benjamin Bratt's A&E series, "The Cleaner" was based on drug interventionist Warren Boyd, who would undergo extreme measures to keep his clients sober. Many of these clients are Hollywood stars and now, Boyd's name is being linked to Whitney Houston's daughter, 18-year-old Bobbi Kristina Brown.
"When Whitney passed away, literally the first call they made was to Warren Boyd... to come here right away from Malibu, to be here with Bobbi Kristina," Forbes.com columnist Roger Friedman told Access Hollywood. "And he's been with her pretty much ever since. ...

You can forget all those stories about Whitney Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, disappearing or doing drugs since her mother’s death. I am told that “from the moment” Whitney passed away, the family called in Houston’s drug counselor for help. Warren Boyd, aka “The Cleaner,” has been with Bobbi Kristina “around the clock.”

Many websites that just copy each other, starting — surprisingly– with “The Daily Beast”–are trying to turn Bobbi Kristina into a tabloid heroine at death’s door. The frenzy is remarkable. But pictures and video from the funeral show the 18 year old young woman talking, laughing, crying, and acting–normal. Having Boyd there is extra protection. He’s known for her a long time.
Says my source: “He came right to the Beverly Hilton Hotel, he stayed on the 4th floor with her, he’s been by her side through everything.

Benjamin Bratt is looking forward to do some 'cleaning up' tonight when the second season of "The Cleaner" premieres on A&E. From sweeping the streets from any kind of addicts to assisting high profile individuals to do a recovery, Bratt's character William Banks will face one of his toughest challenges in the season opener.
In "Hello America", an old friend Michelle Durham seeks William's help to get her high-profile national news anchor husband Davis, clean. But the news anchor is a national spokesperson for recovery, so William has to be especially discrete in his methods. And the news anchor's wife has an illness that forces William to confront his own personal problems.
Michelle is portrayed by Jayne Brook while Davis is played by Gary Cole. But they are not the sole attractions for this season. The show brings back Whoopi Goldberg as William's sponsor for three episodes and lines up other prominent actors.

Despite immediately falling in love with the script for A&E’s The Cleaner, Benjamin Bratt, who plays the central character William Banks in the series, was initially concerned about the believability of the show’s concept. The show, which was based on the life of co-executive producer Warren Boyd, depicts a man struggling to clean himself of his addictions while trying to be a good father to his newborn daughter.
“[Boyd]’s the kind of guy who just upon looking at him (it seems) like he’s been there, done that and seen it all,” Bratt said told the Boston Herald. “That was the essence I wanted to borrow from him. He has that gravitas to him because of his life experience both in jail and his experience as a junkie and the business of savings lives.”
Bratt also admits that he was drawn to the character also because of...

To win the part of ex-junkie and present-day interventionist and William Banks, actor Benjamin Bratt had to convince the producers of A&E's new drama series "The Cleaner" that he wasn't too pretty to play the part.
"When we had our first meeting with Benjamin at a hotel bar in Los Angeles, he was explaining how unattractive he could be while waitresses were literally walking over and sitting in his lap," says Jonathan Prince, the show's executive producer. "But when we went to do our screen test,...

A&E Network has given the green light to The Cleaner, marking the cable network's first original scripted drama series in six years.
Cleaner, inspired by the true story of a real-life "extreme interventionist," stars Benjamin Bratt as William "The Cleaner" Banks, who, after hitting rock-bottom from his own addictions during the birth of his twins, strikes a tentative deal with God.
In exchange for a second chance, he vows to kick his addictions and dedicate his life to helping others get clean from their own addictions by any means necessary.
Cleaner marks the first series to come out of CBS Paramount Network TV's cable division. It was created by Jonathan Prince (American Dreams) and Robert Munic. Prince is executive producer, while Jay Silverman and Warren Boyd are co-executive producers. The pilot was written by Robert Munic and directed by David Semel.
The network has ordered 13 hourlong episodes of the WMA-packaged Cleaner, including the pilot. It is scheduled to go into production shortly, pending an end to the WGA strike, and is tentatively set to premiere in the summer.
