David Edward Perry is a creativity savant, storyteller, actor, and mental health advocate. Perry's life has been one of wanderlust and abundant experiences. . His career began in Orlando, Florida, booking acting roles at Disney, Universal Studios and in several major commercials and television shows. While working as an elementary substitute teacher, He created a literacy program for children called The Bear Show: Reading Adventures. Perry later moved to Los Angeles to further his acting career. He shortly landed roles in features, animation. He also started performing sketch comedy and was a founding member of The Straight Jacket Society. In 2006 was a featured performer at the LA Festival of Sketch Comedy. His stage work continued with Captured Aural Phantasy Theater and The Musical Theater of Los Angeles. Perry was nominated for a NAACP Best Supporting Actor award for playing Booker T. Washington in Ragtime: The Musical.
Perry is a graduate of Harvard Medical School with a master's degree in Media, Medicine, and Health. master's program. At Harvard, Perry found a passion for evidence-based research in creativity, psychology, mental health, and creative development. This data led to his capstone on humor and health intervention. After graduating, Perry followed his passion and founded PERRY Comedy for Mental Wellness, a lecture series teaching how to use your sense of humor to bridge from chaos to calm. Perry is also a graduate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and The Disney Institute. He is excited to collaborate with creative minds and build pathways to mental health wellness. Perry's mantra is "Chase after your rainbows."
