Walt Disney Pictures has purchased the movie rights to the graphic novel series Delilah Dirk And The Turkish Lieutenant from author Tony Cliff. The action/adventure series takes place in the 19th century and follows the protagonist Delilah Dirk who is described as a ‘female Indiana Jones.’
Delilah Dirk is a master swordsman who is trained in over fifty sword-wielding techniques as she clashes with pirates while seeking mysterious artifacts and treasures across the world. The adventurer befriends a petty officer named Selim who she takes on her adventures. The series became a New York Times bestseller in 2013 and was named A Publishers Weekly Best Child’s book of 2013 and Best Teen of 2013 from Kirkus Reviews.
Roy Lee, Mark Mower, and Justin Giritlian are set to produce the film with Vertigo Comics’ Miri Yoon and Disney executives Tendo Nagenda and Chaz Salembier overseeing the project.

Breaking: Dwayne Johnson is attached to Lore, a pic that was just bought by Warner Bros as a star vehicle for Johnson stars in the upcoming GI Joe 2, Empire State, and Pain and Gain. Cory Goodman is writing with Jeremy Lott. The pic is based on the Idw graphic novel and Andrew Lazar, David Alpert and Rick Jacobs are producing. Deal was in the seven-figures. The graphic novel has been compared to Men in Black, with mythological creatures. Four studios bid on it. Wme reps Johnson, Goodman by Wme, Lott by Paradigm and both scribes are managed by Adam Goldworm of Aperture. Idw’s Ted Adams and the graphic novel’s creator, Ashley Wood, will be exec producers along with Miri Yoon. Idw’s repped by CAA and Circle of Confusion.

Chris O'Donnell and Jack McBrayer are the live-action stars of Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow's "Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore," which is being directed by Brad Peyton.
Andrew Lazar is producing the CGI-blended movie via his Mad Chance banner along with former Warner Independent head Polly Cohen.
The movie continues the story of the battle between cats and dogs for control of Earth. Ron Friedman and Steve Bencich -- who have made family movies and talking animals their bag with "Brother Bear," "Chicken Little" and "Open Season" -- wrote the script.
The movie marks the feature debut of Peyton, who made waves at the 2002 Toronto International Film Festival with his acclaimed short, "Evelyn: The Cutest Dead Girl."
The live-action portions of the film already are in production in Vancouver, with voice casting to come.
Miri Yoon is co-producing.
