Stoke City are one of the finest models of establishing oneself in the top-flight. A modest club with limited infrastructure, they have managed to comfortably support themselves amongst the elite of the Premier League for six years, without ever having becoming embroiled in a serious relegation dogfight. With each year, their stock has risen considerably, and their ever-growing ambition is matched in the rising standard of their transfer targets.
Tony Pulis and Mark Hughes have both fashioned themselves as wheeler-dealers over the last number of years, so it’s no surprise that Stoke have been busy in each and every transfer window over the last number of years.
With Hughes attempting to change Stoke’s style, remodelling the Potters’ rambunctious long-ball tactics that worked so well under Pulis, the targets have also taken a step in a different direction. While there will always be a reliance and emphasis on strength,...

Manchester City forward Edin Dzeko could start despite an injury scare during his side’s 3-1 win over Liverpool on Monday while strike partner Sergio Aguero is in line for his first start of the Premier League season. However, new signing Eliaquim Mangala is not yet ready to play.
Stoke should have Bojan Krkic at their disposal with the on-loan forward returning to training on Thursday following a rib injury. Phil Bardsley is a doubt with a knee problem while defensive colleague Geoff Cameron also faces a spell on the sidelines with an injury of his own.
Key Stats
Manchester City have won seven successive league games at home to Stoke, including all six previous encounters in the Premier League without conceding a goal.
City have managed seven consecutive league wins – two shy of their club record, set in 1912.

Chelsea have confirmed that Victor Moses will move on a season-long loan to Stoke City. The Nigerian winger will hope to enjoy greater form and more regular playing time than at Liverpool, where he was loaned for the entirety of the 2013/14 season.
Moses joined Chelsea in 2012/13 for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £9m (inclusive of add-ons) and scored a solid total of ten goals in forty-three appearances in his debut season, albeit managing only one in the Premier League.
His place in the team was put under threat the following year by the signings of Andre Schurrle and Willian. Moving to Liverpool, he struggled for goals and appearances, scoring only twice in twenty-two outings, many of which were as a substitute.
Nevertheless, he started all four of Nigeria’s games at the 2014 World Cup, putting in respectable if unspectacular performances.

Nothing is certain in football apart from the astonishing capacity for shocks that come every time the transfer windows open, and it looks like Stoke have made a strong play for the oddest, and potentially most brilliant signing of the summer period, after confirming that they’ve taken Spanish attacker Bojan Krkic from Barcelona.
Ten days ago it had been suggested that the player was about to join on loan, following on from his temporary spell with Ajax last season, where he scored 5 goals in 32 games, but Stoke’s confirmation states that Bojan has signed permanently for Mark Hughes’ side.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are battling over the signature of Roma striker Bojan Krkic, according to a report in the Spanish newspaper Sport.
21-year-old Krkic endured a disappointing campaign in the Serie A last summer with just seven goals in 33 outings for the Italian capital side, who he joined after leaving his boyhood heroes Barcelona. During his time a the Catalan club he became the second youngest player to score in Champions League history when he netted against Schalke four years ago and was soon dubbed one of the top strikers as Europe.
A mediocre campaign in Italy has fuelled media reports in Spain that the likes of Spurs, Arsenal, AC Milan and La Liga clubs Valencia and Atletico Madrid are looking at prising him away from Roma before the summer transfer window shuts.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger may see Bojan as a quick-fit replacement for Robin Van Persie, whilst...
