TITLE SEQUENCE DESIGNER / ART DIRECTOR -
Honoured as a 'BAFTA Guru' and optioned for an Emmy Award in 2021 for 'Outstanding Main Title Design' for HBO's 'The Undoing'. Dean's career spans over 30 years, having worked with some of the world's most notable film directors, producers and influential designers of our time. Including George Clooney, Tom Ford, Sam Mendes, Tim Burton, Stephen Frears, The Wachowski's and Martin Scorsese.
Dean is one of the original pre-digital designers, who developed his skill through traditional methods learning true design values. As an established designer already at the time Apple Macintosh moved in on the world's creatives, Dean quickly embraced digital technology to help him deliver continued top-end creative not only in film, but in all areas of design from TV, advertising to brand development.
An introduction more than two decades ago to work with Richard Morrison, one of the world's leading designers of feature film title sequences, and shortlisted for ID Magazine's Top 40 of World Creatives, set-off a new chapter in Dean's career as the Creative Partner and Art Director on films such as 'Enemy at the Gates', 'High Fidelity' and Dave A Stewart's 'Honest'; and the ten minute short 'Je'taime John Wayne', which was nominated for a 2001 BAFTA and winner of Best Short Film at the European Film Awards.
He went on to work on the critically acclaimed 'The Constant Gardener', winner of 19 awards including BAFTA, Golden Globe, SAG and The Academy Awards. Then in later years, cinema releases such as The Wachowski's 'Jupiter Ascending', 'The Golden Compass' and Tim Burton's 'Sweeney Todd'; nominated for Best Film Graphics in 2008, by the British Animation Awards (BAA).
In the last few years alone Dean has completed more than 50 new title sequences, which includes films 'Saltburn', 'Jackdaw', 'Ticket To Paradise' and 'The Phantom of the Open', as well as TV series 'The Undoing', 'Patrick Melrose', 'Blue Lights' and 'Hotel Portofino'.
