Thérèse Ahlbeck is a Swedish film director, screenwriter and journalist, born in Kristianstad, now located in Lund.
Her interest in filmmaking and storytelling began early, and soon after high school she went on to study film, theatre and art history at the University in Lund. With a bachelor's degree in Art History she continued on to study journalism and began after that to work at the Swedish Radio (SR) and Swedish Television (SVT). It was during these years she developed a profound love for sound, as a powerful component in storytelling.
Her graduation film from the Swedish National Film school, Dramatiska Institutet, "Janna & Liv", starring Sofia Ledarp and Lo Kauppi, was nominated by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, to a Student Academy Award in 2010. Her short films, including "Lost in Stångby" starring well acclaimed actor Loa Falkman, have won several international awards.
2016 she was awarded the cultural prize from the Municipality of Kristianstad.
2018-19 she worked as host/reporter at P4 Kristianstad, Sveriges Radio and in 2020 she hosted an interview pod called "5 frågor till", about art & science, produced by Tiny Lumberjack
During the fall/winter 2021 she shot a pilot for the comedy "Merkurius Retrograd" starring Sissela Benn.
She is a member of the Writer's Guild of Sweden.
